Your muscles need nutrients during the workout, so taking it pre wo, and immediatly post wo works great. Mix with water, never mix with milk pre wo. Milk sits in your stomach and therefore makes you lag and feel sick because its sitting thick. Not to mention if you throw up at the gym its going to smell terrible. Take whey during the day, and take
CASEIN at night, casein is a slow release protein that works great because your muscles are getting nutrients to strike growth all throughout the hours you are sleeping. Remember these are supplements, not meals...so eat your egg whites, rice, chicken etc...and ADD extra protein into your diet throughout the day. Meals work great getting all nutrients however to give you that little extra, thats where your shakes come in.
