Slow Releasing and fast releasing proteins confusion?

Hey guys. My friend said that I should be taking a slow releasing form of protein pre-workout and a fast releasing protein post workout. Is this true? I currently am taking MetRX Whey protein an hour before (24g shake) and and a 48g shake directly after, is this correct?

If I should be taking a slow releasing protein and fast releasing protein supplement, when and where should I take them - and do you have any recomendations?

Many Thanks,

From Alex :)

Fast release protein pre and post w/o , then at night you need slow release or casine powder at night to feed your muscles while you are sleeping..

You also could take in fast digesting protein in the morning to get your body started along with some simple carbs as in fruit and some slow digesting carbs, such in oatmeal.

whey mixed with milk digests slower than whey mixed with water or juice.

Not all weight gainers digest slowly, I am currently taking IDS Smart Gainer for my post workout and it has been helping my recovery so much, and it is both fast digesting protein and fast digesting carbs. Weight Gainers are great Post workout as long as long as they are fast digesting, now BSN Trumass and Cytosport Cytogainer are both slow digesting. As far as pre workout, it all depends because I take supplements before workout and generally they are to be taken on an empty stomach, but I do take a fast digesting 1 hour before I take my supplements.
