What do you guys think about Weight Gainers.
Just any comments, suggestions or opinions on taking them.
E.g. Monster Maxx, Hard Mass, Hard Gainer 2200.

i think that some cantain too much simple carbs which causes a spike in the insluine level which will contribute to fat gains.........i think best time to take it is imediatly after your workout but i think that some wight gainers r good........any ways wait until hdogg posts cause hes an expert on these stuff

Yes, I am of the same opinion as hdogg and fahad....you better invest your money into more whey protein and oatmeal or other "good" carbs...to me, weight gainers are just to make money...money money money...

I recently bought 6kg weightgainer and I can taste that it's filled with sugar. But it's allright if you want easy extra kcal.

see not in my view i dont see the point to weight gainner's like really is it that hard to add an extra scoop or 2 of protien to your shakes and if you want simple sugars just eat some fruits beside being paked with vitams they also taste great and have fructose, so my opion weight ganniers are garbage

just make your own weightgainers... all you need is oatmeal and protein powder... no bs sugar or anything else they put in those weight gainers you buy.

im with pain on this one, take a blender, some protein powder, milk, a bannana and some oatmeal and you have yourself a sick ass weight gainer. Some ppl even put peanut butter in theirs, but i havnt tried that.

Nat peanut butter owns... And didnt read the whole thread but most of the wight gainers suck due to a lot of sugars and crappy carbs... just eat or make those home shakes with protein powders... good for the morning..

Still not good in the morning, there is no need to spike insulin in the morning, this is counter productive.

weight gainers are not necessary, would be more efficient and cost effective if you used the ingredients listed by Pain.

If you feel the need to use a weight gainer, I would advise only using Prolab's NLargeII.

I think it´s good for post-workout. I use one that contains fast carbs and whey after I have trained and a nother one in the midde of the day that does not contain that much suger.

Why waste your money, why not buy pure whey then buy the simple carbs seperate which you can buy kilograms of for less than 5 dollars?

How much are they AnimalGen? There is no way kilograms of sugar are sold for more than a few dollars. i guarantee it is FAR cheaper to buy pure whey protein and add these to your post workout shake then to buy a "weight gainer". These products are awful any time other then post workout, why not make your own, where you can also change the amount of carbs depending on if you are cutting or bulking. I dont understand why you are so insistant on using terrible, expensive products.

I have used couple of them (for ex. I've consumed universal mega mass 3000 about 10 lbs) but I mixed it with my whey. After the wourkout you need quick energy- easy diggest carbs so some (depending on your weight, goals and else) of them are necessary after the workuot. Someone said that you can eat oats after the workout, well I don't agree with him... because form oats you'll get only slow diggest carbs.

What exactly "spiking" the insulin in what i wrote? whey + oatmeal + peanut butter doesnt spike up nada.

unless u use dextrose or any other carb thing like maltodexerine etc in it.

Of course, if im not mistaken Malto is a polymer of the glucuse, anyways it has a very high GI, but as i know it's a complex carb not simple carbs...

and hdogg345 np man i was kinda shocked since i drink that every morning...
