1st of all, i know it takes hard work to get abs or any other body muscle. I totally understand that. Heck when i entered the gym, i was 110 pounds and could only bench 80 pounds at the end of junior year. At the end of senior year, i was around 180 and could bench 250. Yes, i know and lived to the hard intense workouts.

Well, its been like 5 years since high school.. I didn’t work out since high school at all because i didn’t have the privilege to use a free high school gym. Once your done with school, you have to pay for a membership, something i couldn’t afford. (so all you high school people, take advantage of your gym!)

I have gained a little fat, or better put i lost muscle since i stopped working out. I am still around 170 pounds since my job is intense as well and require lifting. I tried to eat right for the most part, but as we all know since you stop working out, its very easy to gain weight no matter what you eat.

So finally, I can afford a 24 hour fitness account. I really want to get back in shape before summer BADLY! I will not fail as i will work my tail off!! I took protein shakes during high school and that helped me A LOT. So i was wondering if theirs any other shakes or supplements that i can take to help with my ABS... Because that is the hardest muscle to gain back and it would be nice to have a supplement helping you out while you work hard.

Now i am looking for something SAFE. I don’t need the crap that reduces your manly hood or harm my body any other way... I was wondering if theirs anything safe like protein shake but for the abs. I am not a fan of pills but will take them if they help tone my abs back into shape with out any harm done to my body..

Thanks ahead of time!

Well i was thinking about going back to the setup that i had back in high school..

eat small meals 6 times a day also take 2 protein shakes, 30 minutes before workout and 30 minutes after. Work out 4 days a week. mon tues, thur friday. Of course when i start working out, i will only take 1 protein shake 30 minutes after work for a couple of weeks.

Is their any other supplements to help me recover my lost muscle faster?

Muscle memory is a mind saver. When a similar experience happened to me I became depressed, but I was assured that muscle memory work and is valid. It worked for me.

I would recommend 1.5g/lb of body weight for your first few months of training.

The supplement stack I recommend is:

whey protein, creatine monohydrate, bcaa, flax seed oil, multi-vitamin.

As taken from Wikipedia:

Many studies on CLA in humans show a tendency for reduced body fat, particularly abdominal fat, changes in serum total lipids and decreased whole body glucose uptake. The maximum reduction in body fat mass was achieved with a 3.4 g daily dose. Additional potential benefits include a reduction in food-induced allergic reactions, as well as the overall enhancement of the immune system. There are concerns that the use of CLA may actually cause insulin resistance, leading to an increased risk for developing diabetes. CLA should be taken with protein-rich food to prevent side effects, including diarrhea, nausea, and stomachache.

u can't "grow" your abs. i think thats the only muscle that doesn't grow... you need to reduce ur body fat % to get them to pop out!

6 meals, high in protein and limit your sugar filled carbs (white breads, white rice, cereals) to postwork out only. keep the starchy carbs (sweet potatoes, whole grain bread / rice) to the mornings and lunch time... veggies and fruit (look into the Glycemic index for low GI fruits.. cherries, grapefruits...) all day long. watch the fruit at night though... high sugary fruits may limit your results.

also HIIT cardio in the AM will help as well.

So it is bad or just has a risk? My dad has diabetes and i am trying to watch my sugar so hopefully i can avoid it later in life. Will increase my chances?

So basically what your saying, if i would to stop eating or lose weight around my ab area, i would get a six pack with-out working out?

Also, the past few months ive been eating like fruit before bed because i go to bed late and always want a snack specially after working my tail off all day. So instead of eating fat foods and over working my stomach, i eat fruit... Usally BANNANAS and APPLY'S while i watch history channel and fall asleep. So no more late night fruit? No way, i thought that was the best part about my deit.

Also no WHEAT bread? I love white bread but i herd its not as healty as wheat so at subway ive been having WHEAT bread with roasted Chicken.

Sparky noted increased chance for diabetes.

Probably 80% of abs is diet. You can get pretty lean from proper diet alone, throw in a little cardio and you are good to go.

You want low to med. carbs throughout the entire day except for in the morning after you wake up and post workout.

So if i have a 4 pack right now which you can barly see, if i do the following, how fast do you think abs will start appearing noticeably?

If i eat:

* Eggs for breakfest with susage or baken. (susage and baken not heathly?)

* Take 1 pill of 1- A day for men Mulity vit, 1 pill of
Bcaa's and one pill of Flax seed oil.

* Then have lunch.. SOUP! I always have a lot of home made soup!!! Like russian borch! patatoes are good with salmon or a subway sub or a home made sub... Fruit, apply grapefruit, mango.

* Have another meal around dinner, Soup or patatoes with fish or steak with brochly and other vegys....

** Then go work out around 7 pm but get a 100% whey protein shake 30 min before work out... Then have another glass of 100% whey protein 30 minutes after work out.. Then have a fruit to snack on and hit the sack.

------------------------------
As you can see, its like only 3-4 meals .. i need it to make it 6 somehow... But the stuff i eat are pretty good right? I mean i have no sugar almost whats so ever except in the fruit. If i only have 3-4 meals, can i have my other 2 meals , fruit meals and call it 6 meals for the day?

My day starts around 7-8am and ends around 11pm to 1am every day. If you can, please suggest me the times to eat and what to eat... I am a lover of soups like borch and patetos with salmon or beef or chicken.. .i also love subs but not a big fan of eating bread as it contains fat.

Your diet needs improved. Determine your body fat and plan to lose 1-2lbs/week at the most. Get lean with a good diet, cardio, and some ab work. It's not as hard as everyone in society makes it out to be. Check out the sticky at the top of the nutrition section and come back with any questions.

proper dieting is too hard to explain by 1 person in a forum...

read through the nutrition posts on this site and google the rest.

wheat bread is good, but not after working out. white bread is good only after working out.

no fruit before bed. eat cottage cheese or milk or some type of slow dissolving protein for your body to use digest while you sleep.

keep the fruit during the day while you're active.

give yourself time 6 months or more, do it slow and easy don´t waste your money on supplements who don´t work. not many supps for fat loss work so do your cardio 3x a week and add more and more sessions as you feel like, eat 6-10 small meal a day 2g protein per pound and 1g of carb but also you could cycle your carbs. read on nutrion buy some books that will help you. don´t be frustrated if it takes along time you enjoy it and stay healty

I pop a green tea extract pill in while I'm drinking my coffee in the morning. Double dose :)

Used to make me super jittery the first few times I did it, but calmed down now. Sorta the same concept as why some people lose the effect of NO Xplode after a week or two. Body just ends up getting used to the caffeine jolt.

well, I think most already know my opinion on this question...So i'm not even going to try, but I will say it has taken me years to achieve the discipline I have now, not just a few weeks. Carb control will be your biggest Foe...Never, ever eat more Food than what you are allowed to eat. EVER. It doesn't matter how hungry you get, or tired, you must never over eat. Protein, Carbs, Veggies, Fats (good, Bad) all turn into FAT if you overdo it, remember that.

I don't know if this is the case in your experience Altered Beast but it is in mine. After months/years of not having cheat food the desire is no longer there.

That's really the case with most anything in life if you think about it. My wife can't understand why I don't have the urge to eat chocolate or eat dessert. I've never really eaten a lot of it, and lately I've cut it out completely. End result = I don't even think about it most of the time now. Same concept for people who smoke or take drugs. Once you break the addiction, your body begins to get used to not having something and the longer you go without having it, the less the urge to have it. Once you think about it as a simple concept like that, things begin to make a lot more sense and in turn your diet should be able to improve. Think of that as the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel and you'll be able to kick the junk right out of your daily routine.
