I have been supplementing with creatine for about three months now. Recently i have been having lower back pain and i read that it could be a result of the creatine. I am 18 and i weigh around 171. I never take more than 5 grams a day.
Could my kidney be hurting do to the creatine? I drink around 2 gallons of water a day. Also is it possible to take to many amino acids? Meaning BCAAs and EAAs

Please help. thanks

ps im new to the boards here, but not new to the sport and supplementation and o/t this chewy thing is hilarious

if you're 18 how come your age says 21 for your profile??

anyway...3 months is too long to have been taking creatine, max I'd use it is 2 months ON then at least 1 month OFF. Basically stop taking creatine for 1-2 months.

its the back pain that scares me though....i have taken creatine before and i never experienced back pain. I guess i have used it for to long although i have herd of people taking creatine without cycling. I guess i respond differently due to my weight and other factors....such as age, height, ect.

If you're worried you're having kidney problems, it would be smart to go see a doctor. Maybe you had a preexisting kidney issue that is being irritated by the creatine. That's the only thing I could think of because I know guys who stay on creatine year round with no problems like this.

the odds of the creatine causing kidney problems are low, and the odds of it causing back pain are nonexistant, either way you do need to cycle off it b/c once your muscles get saturated with the creatine and water, you are just pissing it out.

well i talked to a friend of mine who started taking CEE and he felt back pain. Long story short he went to the doctor and the doctor found out that his kidney was swollen and the creatine levels in his kidney was way above normal....i doubt thats whats happening with me. I just thought i would share the story. Im sure whats going on with me is mostly mental, because after he told me his story i got a little worried.

Does anyone know if you can take to many Aminos?

I get back pains from creatine, but I think it has to do with muscle pumps more than anything. But, I only take Creatine Monohydrate.
Creatine should be cycled. Most guys I know cycle 6wks on, 2wks off. We do NOT do the loading phase. We take 10grms on our training days (5grms 45 minutes before, 5grms 10-15 minutes after), and 5grms on off days.
I have CKSD (Chronic Kidney Stone Disease and creatine really does not affect my kidneys to my knowledge. I do try to keep a gallon plus of water everyday.

Of course, anything can be overdone or done to extremes, just look around it's the American way! Stick with the low dose side, assess, adjust as necessary.
