I used to take 10mg ~ 20mg Zinc per day. Recently I bought a bottle of Zinc product, which is 50mg/ tablet. But I heard taking too much Zinc (25-100 mg/day) can lead to the non-absorption of other minerals such as iron and copper. So, should I take only half tablet each day (25mg)? How much Zinc you take per day ?

50mg/day is plenty and the best time is right before bed.

1) If 50mg/ day is too much. How much is good?

2) Why the best time to take Zince is before go to the bed? More easy to absorb? Better sleep ?

1. 50mg is good and it also leaves room if you take a multi as well. Anymore than that is pointless.

2. It helps support your natural hormone release with coincides with sleep. It will also help aid in sleep as well.

Now I find the label is mention this is Zinc Gluconate. Does this Zinc product has any difference with other Zinc product (I know there are many varieties)?

Does 50mg/ day of Zinc Gluconate is safe to use ?

I find this:

Thompsons Organic Zinc - 80 tablets

And:

Bodybuilding.com - Zinc Information and Product Listing! Zinc FAQ!

According to these links, 125mg of Zinc Gluconate is equivalent to 15mg Zinc. It mean each elemental zinc equal to approx. 8.33mg of Zinc Gluconate. If 15mg of elemental zinc is a recommended dosage for daily use, it mean 2.5 tablets of my Zinc Gluconate product is a reference dosage. But I think I will take 2 tablets only.

Its just the salt of gluconate and zinc. The bb.com FAQ is conservative and based on the RDA which really isn't realistic. 50-75g should be tops. Check ZMA and you will see that 50mg is usually the standard dose.

Included with ZMA is normally zinc aspertate, magnesium aspertate, and vitamin B-6.

I agree to put it with magnesium before bed. I definitely sleep deeper, dream more, and wake up more refreshed when doing so.

As Admin said, 50mg of Zinc is PLENTY (I believe I take 25mg), and I also add in 500mg of Magnesium.

Magnesium + Zinc supplementation by themselves before bed are just as effective and cheaper than buying an actual ZMA supplement.
