i have never read anything to convince me that glutamine is any good at all with regards to bbing specifically, though I think I've read it may heal with immune function.

My protein powder has it, so I don't bother buying it anymore, and you know what, I never even noticed a difference.

Glutamine spares myosin heavy chain proteins (they determine a muscle's contractile properties and capabilities).
Glutamine promotes glycogen formation
Glutamine protects the immune system
Glutamine promotes protein synthesis
Glutamine appears to be anti-catabolic
Glutamine elevates growth hormone levels

Wow looks like it does alot. I just started using glutamine. One teaspoon 1hour before the iron battle, and I gotta say that maybe its just me but I get a good rush prior to my workout for some reason . Maybe it's just a psychological thing.

I have two tablespoons per day (around 30 g) every day. Is this too much for someone my size (5"7, 110 lbs)?

I have am now dieting, thus trying to cut up. I take 4 teaspoons a day. 1 in the morning on rising, 1 pre-workout, 1 post-workout and 1 at bed time. Mainly to help stop muscle catabolism and to keep the immune system in check whilst dieting as it is winter here.

So you're taking 20 grams and i'm taking 30. Am I overdosing? Is it possible to take too much glutamine?

how much glutamine to consume is a little bit difficult. Bodybuilders can benefit by taking 10 grams of glutamine a day, although studies have not determined a precise amount for muscle metabolism optimization. I never heard a report of an overdose with glutamine.
Imo take glutamine before and after training, and before bed. 5 to 10 grams for each wich means 15-30 grams per day total.

I've read that glutamine also decreases cravings for sweets and carbs of that nature. Anyone else familiar with this?
