i'm unconvinced. Look at cultures which rely heavily on fish as a protein source and tell me that they're less healthy than cultures that rely heavily on red meat.

i agree...although i do worry sometimes i realise that it's probably healthier eating fish rather than neglecting it... i mean fish is brain food!

milk is hormone laden, as is all farm raised meat, fish is polluted, veggies are coated in pesticides or genetically modified...but you have to eat something man, and tofu is for sissies.

Whoever wrote that article is clearly a nutcase, or just plain stupid. Mercury poisoning becomes a problem mainly when your diet is off (not enough vitamins, I think its VitC that actually removes heavy metals from the body). In fact most of that article is way off. Omega 3's are not in any way related to heart disease, we need them in our diet to maintain the balance between Om3 and Om6 (the latter is oversupplied in a western diet). The only reason they are saying this is for fat people who eat too much fat, got news for them, you need fat in your diet.Animal protein is very acidic, but that just means you have to eat your veggies and get it in balance. In fact that is a point the entire article misses, you need a balanced diet and fish is a part of that (who honestly only eats fish, no inuits reply to that please).

Not in Australia it isn't. Hormones in milk is something that can have bad consequences, thats why we don't have it here. As for hormones in meat, keep dreaming, as long as you cook it properly it denatures and is harmless. GM is hyped up crap that people just don't understand. Pesticides have to have a withholding period before sale of produce, so unless you don't rinse your veggies (which you should do anyway to remove dirt/fecal matter) before cooking and/or eating, this isn't a problem.

Damn! We need a sarcasm/hyperbole/facetitiousness button on the posting, so we can tell!

The aggie gets agro mainly because I've seen so much crap spouted by people who don't know ****. I know this wasn't the case now, but I thought it may be another perpetuation of pure myth and happenstance.

Rant Warning;

People will tell you all about the pesticides, or GMO's, or muelsing and have no idea of what is actually happening. GMO's are more of issue over IP rights and having to buy grain, health effects are nigh on neglidgable. Pesticides have withholding periods for a ****ing reason, so that chemicals aren't reaching the consumer, and are essential to grow a crop for the large population.

ANd ****ing PETA with their campaign against muelsing, I want every single person who thinks it is cruel to go to a farm and see a sheep get eaten alive by maggots after not being muelsed. Their terrorist activities and misinformation campaigns to turn us all into vegan commune dwellers with no interaction with animals is blinding people. PETA members are so far removed from reality that they need to be put down for societies sake.

Off course it tastes ugly by itself. Need to mix it up with something. Make a salat and get a little oil on there.

Tuna is the best thing around.

I have tuna which is sliced or whatever it's called though, it's hattered to 3883478437549 pieces, other kinds of tuna are alot less tasty.

The one I used to have was in vegetable oil, it only had like 15g of protein though, this has 10g or so more and is uber cheap, but tastes like someone has wiped there ass with it.

Not that I'm into that kind of thing

my slogan for the hippies is: pesticides save lives.

literally, they allow greater ammounts of crops to be produced and retained in order to feed populations. organic food rots faster too in my experience.

Thats because organic is grown in crap. SO it is covered in bacteria that can really degrade it. Also its because they let it ripen on the vine/tree/whatever so it is actually freshest the day of picking, and then it has to travel to the store.
