where did you hear that creatine and protein was dangerous? Did you hear it from a scientific and refereed article, or from someone 'in the know'

From my reading, creatine and protein should not be a problem, provided fibre and water intake is sufficient...

Most supplements out there are designed to take your money, that is the nature of all business. If I were you, I'd stop buying the magazines until you're older, as I know how temting and convincing the ads can be. Nothing that is leagal is as good as food, but creatine and protein powder are my top two supplements.

You seem to be all over the map when it comes to your supplement questions...and that's ok, you're young and maybe a bit confused. Keep in mind that there are no majoc bullets or quick remedies and that most of the people you see in the magazines have been training seriously for years...it takes some time to get to know your body and figure out how to live this lifestyle...I'm just getting the diet part down and it's been 13 years for me lifting weights.

Train hard, train intelligently, and train dillegently and the rest will fall into place.

Well on your way to the Olympia platform mr tonkin .... Dont ask these kind of questions, you have already said you will take whatever drugs you need to one day step on that olympia stage. If your worried about protein intake, then re-think salesmanship of your soul to be number 1

There have been a couple studies that show that the ketones in the urinalysis of people taking creatine and/or high levels of protein coincided with kidney problems. One French study showed that creatine could damage the liver.

Further studies, dozens and dozens, showed that this was complete and utter bullshit, as the very few studies showing damage used the elderly with PRE-EXISTING kidney problems. Creatine has been studied for well over a decade now, and almost every country in the world recognizes it as a safe food supplement.
And unless your kidneys have already virtually shut down from an unrelated disease, high protein diets DO NOT damage your kidneys.

Tonkin, my dad is/was the same way...the only way to win them over is to take the time to do your own research and actually talk to them. Go to the Dr together if that's what it takes and demand the Dr prove what they are saying.

It might be helpful to also show that you are dedicated to a healthy lifestyle so that he knows you wouldn't do anything to harm yourself...I'm sure it's just because he cares and is worried about you. You are, after all, quite young. Worse comes to worse, you do it the hard way for a few years until you move out.

Its seniority and positions of power . Even Rocky puts me back in my place when i conduct business outside of the family

The seniority list goes:

Pain
Rocky
Me
Peanut
Makaveli
Pumba <<<< he's always last for obvious reasons

Im 2 steps away from being the DON

lmao.... anyway back to the topic at hand lol

Yes these supplements are good to take.
1) stick with a good whey protein powder
2) make sure your consuming enough water of a day
3) only downside your looking at is the price of certain products

If your dad is worried about you taking supplements he should really be worried about you drinking soft drinks, eating takeaway and deserts. All of which are bad for you. So in reason if things like that are bad for you and it doesnt concern him, why should protein supplements which are good for your health and well being be his concern ?
