I have heard it said time and time again that if you want to get big you have to eat big. Supplements come secondary to that. It troubles me somewhat because these guys who are pro, they cant possibly just be eating big. Supplements and even steriods gotta come into play. I am right and wrong or right or wrong on this?

I know some guys have to genetics to be able to eat big and gain alot of size. Usually if you are medium to large frame. I am small frame and so it take ALOT for me to pack on size and if I eat big I notice much of it decides to hang out on my stomach area and even love handles.

The only reponses I would like is for anyone just to comment on this posting. I just want to hear from people who know more then what I do because I think I only know about 30% of this. Just looking in from the outside trying to understand this so I am not frustrated with my own self. I thirst for size but not at the expense of steriods.

Thanks

John

diet is key...take a look at the natural guys and figure out how big you can get from them. The rule is that you can get big without the juice and you can get cut without the juice, but you can't do both without...big is also a relative term. Every Pro is on a boatload of gear.

Bulking can be tricky for people. It is for me. Although diet is key, I think if it is that hard to put size on then you can afford to be more lenient with the diet with regard to cheat meals. Bulk cleanly as much as possible but don't not have some rubbish when you feel like it just to get the caloires into you. You may have to accept that bulking for you is a longer process than for others. Just keep eating, every time you think about it and can stomach it - eat something. You may find that you get fatter in places you don't want at first but over time you'll get it everywhere else too. It just depends whether you are happy with that or not.

I agree. I used never to cheat and hardly gained any weight. With a little cheating you feel better and grow better! But it's really to the individual, if you gain enough weight with just clean eating don't cheat, since it will put up extra fat you need to shred sometime.

Only thing I disagree with is eat whenever you can. I used to eat non stop (take a sandwhich, full for 10 min, take the next, etc.), but since I started eating every 2,5 hours, I don't feel full every minute I'm awake and eat more on those specific meals and eat more then I the old method.

when your small getting big isnt too hard. I was once the 135lbs kid and the same height as I am now. I got as precise as counting calories. They all werent very healthy and my protein wasnt nearly as high as it should have been. I put on 70lbs in 7 months and was up to 205 with a bodyfat of around 18%. Not too healthy but quite an accomplishment for me in my life.
Now bulking up is very easy for me, dieting is just as easy too, although I think I have much more discipline in this area.

If you keep your protein very high and eat a crap load of complex carbs you will grow, its simple as that. When I hear skinny kids saying they cant gain weight, I sometimes get aggitated because where I came from and I know how easy it can become, then I realize maybe there not as informed as I was. Its all about dedication and how much you want it.

Eat Big, Lift Heavy, Get Huge...patience is key here thats for sure.

I usually try to eat at least 200g of protein a day or more. The sources are whey protein, tuna and some chicken. I also do oatmeal in the morning. I would like to do potatoes but they seem to widen my stomach area and are full or starch.

I probably should eat a little more oatmeal during the day for the complex carbs.
I also know the whole key to it all involves consistency and at times that definately gets hard. At the moment I am not working out. About 3 weeks now but after this weekend I will be. Too much going on around the house to have time for it.

Ok, I will close this, THanks for the postings

John

I think it also depends on how strong your stomach is. My stomach isn't strong, so it takes longer than average people to gain weight. My body frame is also very small, probably close to female body frame, but I gained 80lbs from 90lbs to 170lbs so far. It just takes longer.

If u are going on natural, eating big is defenitely the key. I heard some people with high metabolism might do better after passing 30s because the metabolism slows down a bit, and the body won't be catabolized as fast as used to be.

good luck

I'm happy it worked for you, but maybe you're not as informed as I am. You have to accept that there are freaks in a good way like coleman, but you also have freaks who have insane trouble putting up weight no matter what. Some people have strange leptin levels which run havoc even when there're 6% bodyfat.
