Maybe every other.

If i'm not in competition and right now i'm just trying to bulk is this ok if i drink a casein shake prior to drinking.

I dont know your body but i know that after a weekend of drinking, it takes about a week for my body and energy to recover and hit the level it was before i drank. So basically, I look at it as a week gone down the drain. It makes the long road ahead of me even longer. Something i cant afford. So im even more strict about not drinking now.

If youre lifting intensely youre gonna notice the drawbacks a lot more. It doesnt make me a happy man thats for sure.

Why would you want to set yourself back week after week?? You cant be a serious bodybuilder and maintain a regular drinking habit in my opinion.

Maybe my body is just that much more sensitive to that ****.

Just my perspective


PS: never heard of casein shakes before, who makes them??

lots of companies make casein shakes. Its just a type of protein like Whey but the difference is it is slower absorbing.
Also how much do you drink? I mean if you are waking up the next day hung over naked on your front lawn then yea i would cut back but its ok to have a few pops every weekend or so mostly in your bulking phase.

between 2-3 isn't gonna kill you, personally if your around the highschool - college age like im guessing then your drinking to get drunk and not for the taste, so the heavy amounts is really gonna set you back and i don't find it worth it if your a competitive bodybuilder, if your just a gym rat, then go ahead but limit yourself

it slows metabolism (for up to 48 hours I've read) and raises estrogen levels, not to mention the empty calories and often sugary colas it's served with...unless you're talking about a glass of wine once in a while I'd say that you should probably just stay away. Not super fun, I know, but regular drinking is a body killer.

Well I only really drink once or twice a month, I don't see it as setting me back. I see it as (and yeah I'm proably wrong but meh) that that amount of time(s) a month won't really give you major setbacks. It's like if you only lifted weights twice a month, nothin much would happen, I think the same with drinking.

It makes me sleep easier at night :)

EDIT: one or two drinks is ok but after that u satrt to effect your test levels in a negative way. They go down the drunker u are. And they take a while to go back up on their own, a week or so. u know the restrictions your setting, but if u wanna go ahead an kick it thats your choice, but it will effect gains if u have more than 2. One drink is perfect, bc it helps relax your veins and allows mor blood to pump through. 2 ok u still ok but not as good for u as the first one, and beyond that your hurting tets production. Keep in mind also if u take a lot of supps your liver has to metabolize that, and alcohol is poisinous mind u. just laid a few facts out so u can make the best decision for yourself bro.

My point was gonna be the oestrogen thing - hence why beer drinkers look like they've got tits (along with the excess bodyfat). Plus the point Ben makes about it thinning the blood and helps shuttle it to muscles quicker is valid too. But I still wouldn't advise regular drinking.

I'm a binger myself :)

I drink about once a week but I rarely ever take it to the point where I get ****ed up anymore. I actually turned 21 this past weekend (legal drinking age here) and went to the bars with my friends and family and just relaxed. I've over done it in the past and there was no reason to try to top myself when it came to drinking. It's one of those things where you have to assess the positives and negatives of the situation and make a decision. I think that 99% of can say that stepping on a pro stage is not a realistic idea so we shouldn't let bodybuilding completely run our lives. I say have fun in your life and if that means drinking and partying from time to time go for it. Just realize what it will mean in terms of affecting any bodybuilding goals and if you can accept that then go for it. Enjoy life man but do it with some level of responsibility; you only get one.

Nah too many setbacks on drinking. I know people who say drinking is great for you it helps you live longer and

is good for your arteries lol. It shows as technoligically advanced this world has become we are still in the

premitive ages where people lie to themselves to justify what they are doing. No amount of alcohol is good for

you or your body, the only good thing is the relaxation is brings which can be achieved by so many other

things.

I used to drink like most people my age, but ive found by watching atlot of alcoholic people i know who become

drunken hari krisna's 5-6 nights a week its a ****ed up way to live. Ironically my grandad is 80+ and still

alive and kicking and he drinks more piss than you can imagine. He's around 260lb of pure fat though, so it

shows where getting drunk and playing the slot machines all day gets you .. lol

You have to remember to enjoy life though, eating right and bodybuilding should be done for many reasons and

aslong as it makes you happy even better. But if you are out and turn down sex because you want to keep your

test levels higher.. then you are too obsessed lol

Rocky you are defently right about the estrogen level. I had a boss who was 5' 6'' and only 155lb with bitch

tits LOL!!! And a gut, not really the look he should be aiming for.

I normally have 1 or 2 beers now once every 2-3 months. I dont really miss it, nah we have to pray for mak's

alcohol addiction aswell as happy herbs

My gains have came much faster, since the dont get waisted every weekend these days. If I didnt have a g/f, I prob would get down more.

I drink about once a month and smoke about a pack of cigs a month. I know both habits are unhealthy and not the best things to be doing to ensure maximum gains, but you have to enjoy life a bit. I figure that most smokers are atleast a pack a day or a half pack, so roughly a pack a month won't matter.

If your serious about bodybuilding you'll have to make sacrifices. I dont see what the hype is all about drinking? It tastes like crap, it does absolutely nothing for u, except make a ugly gurl look hot.... other than that its useless. So its up to u... if u wanna see great gains and fast improvements DONT DRINK.. if u wanna sacrifice all your hardwork and work twice as hard to burn off what u drank GO AHEAD DRINK and then regrett later drinking when u dont win a competition or when u start lookin fat...
