so heres the deal. i started bulking about 5 weeks ago, and during the first week, i gained about 5 lbs. (whoa!) however, i weighed myself again today, and i've lost 2 lbs? another however, i'm still gaining strength. i don't know if i'm gaining size because i can't really tell....i'm very vain and constantly look in the mirror. i'm thinking i need to start doing creatine again!

so does anyone have any guesses as to what the **** is going on?

It's common to gain the weight quickly when you start a bulking routine as youre body isn't used to the excess food intake - but it gets used to it so gains slow down. If you are getting stronger and have only lost 2lb it could be said that the excess weight you put on in the first week was primarily fat and in that time, your body has adjusted to the intake and lost it again, but maybe you've actually gained 3lb of muscle?! Try upping your food intake a little more. Or going 3 days with lower carbs and then pack them back in as you were before.

3 days of lower carbs huh? that will kickstart more gains? i don't understand, but if the man rocky says so, i'll try it!

so how many carbs can i have these 3 days? what should my training style be during these days? high reps? low reps? more cardio? break days?

When do you weigh yourself? It's best to weigh yourself 1st thing in the morning on an empty stomach. When your bulking you should ease back into the high calorie diet. Just like with dieting, when bulking raise your calorie intake by no more than 250 calories every 5-7 days.

yea i weighed myself in the morning.

i don't know how to increase my caloric intake...i don't know what else to eat lol...usually, in any given day, i have 1 cup of oatmeal, 7 egg whites, a peanut butter sandwhich, an apple and a banana, glutamine at breakfast and post workout, 2 chicken breasts, some cottage chese, 2 protien drinks, a bowl of cereal, 2 multi vitamin and 2 flaxseed pills, and my serious mass suppliment shake. and some days maybe i will throw in a can of soup.

that's of course not in the order i eat, but thats what i eat each day. i also somedays eat some cooked broccoli.

i don't know what else to eat =/.

Keep your training the same (providing you are still improving), it's just the diet that needs tinkering to reach your optimum intake of everything and keep the bulking moving.

i'm not saying to constantly increase caloric intake. For example, when your cutting lets say you get in 2,500 calories. So, lets say when you bulk you eat 4000 calories. You want to work your way up from 2,500 to 4,000...don't just make a drastic jump from 2,500 to 4,000 because your body will either store it as fat or it will just go down the toilet. Thats why I mean by increasing by 250 calories every 5-7 days.
