yo man some things that jumped out at me...

i think doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach is asking for it. i mean you could lose a lot of muscle doing that. without going into some lecture i think its better to do it about 2 hours after a meal and eat right afterwards. keep the cardio at about 60 percent and 30-45 mins max.

8-10-1-3 all decent meals, maybe eat more egg whites and cut out the shake from the 8:00 meal, add some protein to the 10:00 meal

your pre workout meal is a bit weak. personally i like to eat a big meal about an hour before workout. like chicken and whole wheat pasta or something like that. something with protein and complex carbs to power the workout.

other than that i suggest you do a calorie count and keep track of everything you eat. if you go a week and drop 2-3 pounds youre right on target. if not then slowly decrease your carb intake until you achieve a steady weight loss. drink 2 gallons or more of water a day and look into taking some fish oil caps. keep us posted cuz.

So ya'll think that cardio on an empty stomach is a bad idea? I had always heard that is when you want to do your cardio. Maybe I was always misinformed but hey whatever ya'll say I will listen to. I'm sure yall know a lot more about this subject then I do.

i disagree, cardio on an emptry stomach right out of bed is the besst... correct me if im wrong but your metabolic rate is highest when your waking from a dead sleep and doing cardio on that you will burn that extra fat you want to rid of.. obviously you should eat your first meal right after cardio.. cutler gets up at 2in the morning to do cardio haha :o

Yea see thats what I thought too. Cardio on an empty stomach is best. It's when your body's glycogen levels are low so there for it burns more fat. Sorry I even got in this dicscussion and brought it away from the original subject of the post which was my diet. Used the search key for the running in the mornings and its a beautiful thing.

When doing cardio, we need to consider something known as substrate utilization, which is the process of using different sources of fuel for energy. During moderate intensity cardio (65-75% of max HR), roughly 50% of substrate utilization is from fats, where triglycerides (stored fats) are broken back down into 3 fatty acids and 1 glycerol molecule. The glycerol molecule then undergoes a series of chemical reactions known as beta oxidation, where it is converted to glucose and burned for energy. The remaining 50% comes from carbohydrates, with 80% of that being muscle glycogen. As exercise intensity increases, fat oxidation decreases. So by going real hard, you will burn more total calories, however less will be from fat.

The best time to do this cardio is roughly 2 hours after a normal meal with low GI carbs and protein. When waking, your body is in a catabolic state. Glycogen is depleted, so cortisol levels are high to break down muscle into glucose so you must eat asap, exercise will drastically increase cortisol. A study by Sotsky MJ, Shilo S, Shamoon H. (1989) tested the effects of moderate intensity cycling (60% of max HR) in normal and low glucose (empty stomach) conditions. In the normal glucose conditions, cortisol did not increase significantly, while in the low glucose conditions, cortisol increased by 400%.

As for cardio after a workout, it is been shown that you have a 30 minute time frame after a workout where you must ingest nutrients to replenish muscle glycogen, or else glycogen uptake is severely restricted, and other benefits are eliminated such as the increased protein synthesis, GH/test increases, etc. The only thing you should be worried about after a workout is getting a proper shake and meal.

So to conclude, the best cardio is at 65%-75% of max HR. The longer you do this, the more you will oxidize fats. I would reccomend this cardio at least 2 times a week at around 45 mins at a time on bulks, and would up it to 4-5 times on a cut.

Again hope i don't come across the wrong way, i love the videos people donate and i feel i can contribute with the science of BBing.

now im not saying his word is bond but i feel this works best for me. i feel i maintain my muscle mass better and thats the name of the game. now i think running in the morning on an empty stomach will work, actually im absolutely positive it will work. but when you get down to that target body fat percentage and you dont have as much muscle mass its a bit dispiriting to say the least. whatever you chose man i hope u succeed.. prove me wrong!

the nutrition stuff i suggested is still golden, hope you dont think im full of shit just because of this cardio agrument.

3pm-
Tuna sandwhich on whole wheat bread

5pm-
ANPB
2 cups of pasta
Super Charge!

5:30-Work Out

6:30-7 pm
Post Workout Shake
CEE

7:30-
Pasta and either Grilled chicken (6oz) or Boiled Shrimp (2 cups)
Salmon Oil Caps

10:00 pm-
Cassien Shake or either Cottage Cheese
Mulits and Milk Thistle

11:00-12:00 -BED

There we have it guys, I hope this one is going to work but any suggestions will be appreciated once again. I just can't wait to get back into the gym and start lifting heavy once I get over this hernia surgery. I'll post all of the details of the diet such as Cals, Fats, Protien and Carbs when I get a break from classes. Have a great day boys.
