Do you guy's still have a bedtime shake when you are cutting?I usually have 2 scoops of whey in skim milk with a tablespoon of natty PB (or 1/2 cup of cottage cheese).I'm going to start cutting for about 8 weeks but I don't want to lose any muscle ( who does ).Should I keep this shake or skip while I'm cutting down?

Thanks for any help.

I'd stick with taking your shake n cottage cheese, but even though it helps with slowing down digestion of protein i'm not sure you should eat peanut butter before bed while cutting

got to agree with MaK, cottage cheese is VERY slow digesting because of casein, and dry curd cottage cheese is trace fat, keeping the calories low compared to PB in a shake

For me I find that it's best for me if I skip out on carbs for my last meal when dieting and will have something like skim mozerella cheese along with a small portion of chicken or if I'm feeling lazy I'll have a shake along with sunflower kernels in order to slow down the digestion. I also keep a water bottle mixed with glutamine near my bed at night so if I get up and need to take a piss I always take a swig of that in order to keep some aminos flowing into my body.

I read you should cut out dairy such as milk and cottage cheese as much as possible if you ate trying to cut. But a whey (even tho it is technically dairy) shake is ok with water.

I don't know why you'd have to cut out dairy though, especially something like cottage cheese which has very little fat and I'm guessing almost no carbs. This is why I use skim mozerella because it might have one only gram of carbs per serving, no fat, and plenty of protein. I try to avoid skim milk that late but milk does have sugars in it although not too many so for some this isn't a problem. The only problem I see with taking a whey shake with water only is that whey is taken in by the body incredibly fast and therefore your body may still enter a catabolic state early into the night after it's done utilizing protein. That's why I personally feel healthy fats are okay here because they'll slow down the digestion. Though when in doubt, just get a casein shake.

Extra calories will, no matter what, but when you sleep its an 8 hours fast, so you're looking at a real dilemna.

My standpoint is to have some protein which is slow digesting to put off reaching a catabolic state.

The basic rule is calories in minus calories out, but at any given minute of the day, your body is either building or tearing down, so you should minimize the catabolism.

Course, I'm a fat fu#$k, so whatever Rocky says is what I'd go by.
