1 c?? you mean like 1 cc? dude, you should not mess around with AAS until you have been training for at least 3-5 years and have VERY solid diet and training down, as well as knowing everything about the steroids you are taking.
You shouldn't take advice from 'a guy in your gym' because chances are they may not know what they are doing. you are 35, so talk to your doctor about trying to get Hormone Replacement Therapy if you think your test levels aren't where they should be.
Aside from that, if you are just beginning to weight train, the most important thing is your diet, then training, then rest. Worry about those first and then start to look into supplements. But you definitely should not start with steroids because if you lack the knowledge needed to use them properly you will only hurt yourself.
