I ran into a guy who uses gear to recover faster from mma fighting he says it heals his injurys faster any truth to this?

Gear helps you recover faster due to many things but mainly due to an increase in protein synthesis.

Its not 100% proven but they also reduce recovery time by blocking the effects of the stress hormone in the body, cortisol, on muscle tissue. As a result, catabolism of the body's muscle mass is greatly reduced.

It's the same idea of why Arnold said he used it, to preserve the amount of muscle in his body after a workout instead of tryng to use it to build muscle.

Steroids let you workout longer and harder. Thats the effect he's going for, he's eating to keep weight so he can compete at a certain clas.
