Raw vs. Smackdown. Which is the superior brand, and why?

Just a general feeler here, but which do you guys feel is actually producing more for us as fans, Raw or Smackdown? Raw has been dilluted by poor draft switches(and a shallow champion), and Smackdown is nothing but stupid gimmicks week in and week out, with some excellent talent trapped in the pile on both shows. I'm almost sixes at this point, so I'd be interested to hear what the rest of you have to say concerning the matter.

was gonna ask the same question myself, and honestly I'm gettin increasingly pissed off with all them BS gimics as you've mentioned. Personally though I'd rather watch Smackdown but sometimes when these stupid stunts come on I just turn that **** off...

ever since the draft raw has never been able to compete with SD!
i think to fully appreciate the shows you have to understand who those guys are and what they are capable of not just liking cena and batista i hate ppl like that
smackdown has great talent cruiserweights put on a good match
mnm are gold as a tag team nobody will agree but i dont care the boogeyman kicks arse as does jbl is is magic on the mic. and kurt as champ its about time

on raw..cena still trying to hold up the show on his own. i hate the travesty that the U.S. title is being but thru with booker but at least theres a story brewing they just give the I.C. to the old fart naitch what is he going to do with it
sure sd have some crappy gimmicks like burchill as a pirate, and EVERYone will knock the juniors but cmon those guys for their size can really wrestle, they are there for comedy not to be taken seriously just enjoy it
and wait until KENNEDY and batista come back its going to be superb
and one day christian...!!!

Totally with you on that, Peanut. Three excellent athletes right there, although Christian is looking pretty set in TNA.

Of the 2 I'm going to say Smackdown here, but I'm also going to mark out and say TNA is producing better stuff than the pair of them.

LOL! Good call, peanut. Kennedy is definitely one of the best new things to come around in a long time; amazing charisma coupled with a crazy in-ring mentality. I still remember when he had his debut match against Funaki; when he hit his finisher, it was some of the loudest "pops" I've ever heard, and with good reason. High impact with little chance of injuring his opponents(having a good ring mind) will set a strong foundation for his future in the WWE.

i'm a raw guy but smackdown has alot more potential.. to me.. smackdown can be so much more but its just not working.

Raw has all the guys that have been in the wwe for years and years and smackdown has the fresh talent.

Orton showed great potential, drive, and talent during his tenure with Evolution, and especially in the period following his split from said faction. Then, he fell into the crap-tastic killer of stories and characters that we call Smackdown. To cheapen the legacy of his father along with becoming the "kid who can't win" in his near pointless feud with the Undertaker(who can't seem to put ANYONE over nowadays;makings of a fragile character and ego) is a sure sign of how the powers that be can't handle sure talent. Smackdown to me is a harbinger of what will kill the industry; new and young names are merely used to put over older athletes, and when their pacemakers and egos start dropping, the brand finds itself left with nothing. But wait, they have the Juniors! Also known as one of the most SNIDE and IDIOTIC things to hit wrestling in the last decade. Sure, I liked Doink and Dink back in the day, but this goes far beyond accpetable limits in the realm of stupidity. Smackdown is a collection of wrestlers that senselessly suffer to try and push the brand along(Batista, Booker, Benoit, Orton, Hardy, among others) and those gimmick and/or "can't lose" wrestlers who leave no room anyone else(Cena in a BIG way[now he handicaps RAW], Undertaker, The Stinkin' Boogeyman, the Juniors, Mysterio, etc...). Sad to see for sure.....

not that they're doing it THAT much now but not too long ago where wrestlers would work with each other night after night drove me crazy like kurt and cena jericho and cena and maybe to some extent edge and cena then taker and orton then rey and eddie which is the stupidest thing ive ever seen them 2 put in im glad he got back to his old self before he passed away

Definitely with you on that, Peanut. Unfortunately, the repitition is becoming a hallmark of the WWE; sure sign of an inability to develop new talent, or worse, an aversion to such.
