I don't mean to slam on the Warrior further, as I was a big fan of his in the past, but any ardent fans of his HAVE to watch the "Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior" DVD that was released recently by the WWE. It really shows his true character, and although the commentary offered by some individuals is a bit scathing, he unfortunately did everything possible to deserve it. As a child I loved the spectacle of the Ultimate Warrior, but when he no-showed at an event I attended(while the world champion, no less), it started the gears of reality turning. I have to agree with Ric Flair's comment to a large degree, "Was the Ultimate Warrior just a flash in the pan? Enough said.(stands up and walks away)"
While the DVD can seem to be nothing but a flame-fest concerning Warrior(as he legally changed his name to from Jim Hellwig), the WWE invited him to contribute heavily in its production. A "representative" of the Warrior(likely himself with an inflated sense of self-importance) denied the opportunity using a ridiculously structured response, which I believe still may be avaliable for viewing in the archives of WWE.com. He's a different individual, that's for sure. The DVD is hilarious though, if for no other reason than watching his old promos and trying to understand what he's saying. |
