I feel for The Hitman no doubt, I saw Wrestling With Shadows, I watched the classic Wrestlemanias, I know about Owen and British, but getting injured is part of professional wrestling, which is why I don't hold a vindictive grudge against Goldberg. It's not like Bret was just starting out and had nothing but green pastures ahead, he was washed up, hated by the US and sticking around for money he didn't need. Now in no way does that justify Goldberg's mistake, but in the greater scheme of things, it softens the blow. Besides, Bret's career officially ended when he decided to go on a motorcycle ride minus a helmet.

Goldberg was butt. He had one good match and it went for 2 minutes. I could go longer then that in the sack. Thats not entertainment.
Goldberg was big in wcw because wcw had nothing else to be big. Its like saying Im big in a bodybuilding federation of finless goldfish.
And as for saying wrestlers suck over 40. You wouldn't say that if u were still a fan! You've obviously grown up skywalker but I never will and Some of those guys u mentoined are still the best at working the crowd. Even at a shadow of their former selves. HBK got the biggest response at the sydney show i went to owning up everyone with his antics as i chanted "im not worthy im not worthy"

Pickle, I understand your passion, but you need to realize that most of these wrestlers are sticking around 'cause they got nowhere else to go. They're attention addicts who crave the spotlight and are holding back the new generation of wrestlers.
If anyone ended Bret Hart's career, it was Steve Austin and wrestling fans in general. The sudden 1990s Bad Guy/Heel craze destroyed wrestling as we know it and turned it into the immoral sludge fest we have today. Instead of heros tossing their shades into the crowd, we have guys cracking other guys' heads open with sledgehammers, dudes screaming suck it, half-naked women wrestling in mud etc... If anything Goldberg was a hero taking out the trash so to speak, as opposed to Austin talking trash. Nowadays, Austin is a drunk who has a record of beating his wife and serious anger management issues, so no, I won't cheer when he gives me the finger while opening some cold ones.

Where did I say I was down with Goldberg harming Bret? I just stated I wasn't going to hold a grudge against the man for accidentally injuring another wrestler. I saw the interview with Michael Landsberg on Off The Record, Bret suffered a stroke following a helmet-less motorcycle accident. It was at that point that his career was officially "no way in hell am I ever coming back" over. Were it not for this crash, he would be back wrestling. I don't think he ever mentioned Goldberg once in that interview.
The Hitman is a legend and was voted the 39th Greatest Canadian of All-Time, I doubt he's crying in his sleep right now because he can't give Sharpshooters anymore.
