I found some new info that sheds some light on Arlovski's performance at UFC61:

Arlovski to Undergo MRI on Left Leg

The fact that he went an additional fifteen minutes on something like that easily increases my respect for Andre immensley. Between he and Yves, there was some definite heart at the event.

All in the same, I feel Andre should make the jump to Pride. The UFC won't appreciate him for this sacrifice, as they have a habit of letting former champions languish in mid-card limbo far too often; I feel the higher level of MMA in Japan would be perfect for him.

An unfortunate side effect of overly-large hype paired with the relatively short attention/memory span of the new crop of MMA 'fans'. I've been a fan of Andre since he put Aaron Brink down in under a minute at UFC 28, back in 2000; I'm willing to bet nine out of ten vocal critics of him at this point didn't even know what MMA was back then.

BTW, it's excellent to have another active voice in the MMA threads; thanks for coming back, Shorty

i was really wondering why he didnt shoot, it didnt make any sense at first, if Arlovski took Sylvia down he could have easily made it his fight...guess the MRI explains alot...i really hope he doesnt get gayed, i would really rather see him get actual shots in Japan then get gayed here

I just feel Andre could do so well there. It's such a higher state of competition. No walking tatoo billboards, raging drinkers, obnoxiously casual athletes, etc. I'm a serious nobody in MMA, but walking onto the Pride stage is still an idle dream at times for me. Although the lack of mainstream exposure of said league is a bummer for us here in the states; hopefully that'll change in the near future.

Tim needs to get off his ****y dope, or whatever it is he's smoking. His last two wins against Arlovski can be summed up as such:
#1-complete luck(despite HIS glass jaw, his blind timing won out)
#2-outlasting a fighter with a possibly broken leg by standing in the center of the ring and doing very little. Sweet.
After having his arm broken by Mir in under a minute, and being submitted by Arlovski within the same time frame, you'd think he'd become aware of the price his pride and arrogance have cost him in the past. He seems unwilling to even think of such a thing, so I see a short title reign in his future.

You're correct, CC; the Nevada State Athletic Commission has suspended him from competition until September 7th.
