Just thought I'd start a thread for the event tonight here. Been working, so all I've been able to see so far has been Kendall and Ed's fight, and I have to say, it was a complete garbage of a decision. Not as bad as Diego and Koscheck(the fact that one judge scored Josh over Diego), but close. Ed controlled more on the ground, had amazing submission defense, and was able to stand well enough with Kendall, which I thought he wouldn't be able to do. "Home town" political trash at its finest, in my opinion.

I heard Tito saying "****ing".

That was a great ****in fight. And it was awesome watching Ed get out of all those submissions....dude has balls.

edit: oh, and the first fight was Keith Jardine Vs. Wilson Gouveia, which Keith won. It also was a pretty good fight that lasted all three rounds.

Thanks for filling in the first fight for me, Tech. I'm taping it, so I look forward to seeing how well Keith did in taking the decision.

No worries at all, Tech; I'm spoiler friendly.

And yeah, you'd think with the home-time training each fighter had, Josh would've been able to get those 'love ladders' worked off.

Josh said he's dropping down to 170. I think he'll be much better at that weight. He seems like he has the potential to be a good fighter.

Yep, when you watch the UFC, it's nothing but sponsors, advertisements, and commercials.

And that new Blade show looks fuggggin dumb. I give it 3 episodes before it's gone.

I love how every other fight put the "main event" to shame.

Except for the 11 hours of commercials, this was a great show.

I thought Kendall won that fight. Ed gassed hard after the mid point at round 2 and from them on it was just survival for him. Kendall had him in near finishes with a ton of submitions which should count as though he would have rocked him and almost dropped him. That's why I agree with the decision. If anything, I thought they'd give it to Ed since the (boxing) judges always go for the punches more than the submittions.

Overrall, good show. But yeah, a ton of commercials to come with it too.

untelevised fights results

-Mike Nickels def. Wes Combs by submission (rear naked choke) at 3:20 of Round 1

-Matt Hamill def. Jesse Forbes by TKO (referee stoppage) at 4:47 of Round 1

-Luigi Fioravanti def. Solomon Hutcherson by KO at 4:15 of Round 1

-Kalib Starnes def. Danny Abbadi by submission (rear naked choke) at 2:56 of Round 1

-Rory Singer def. Ross Pointon by submission (triangle choke) at 0:44 of Round 1
The play by plays say Ross SO nearly had this one - he'd dropped Rory with a big left, went down to finish him off and Rory slapped on the triangle

all first round defeats, no surprises

Thank you for posting the untelivised fights, thedon. Bummer about Ross though.

Overall, I feel it was a fairly good event. Keith's fight was a brutual and welcome surprise; he definitely deserved the nod there. Straight up though, when I saw Kendall receive the unanimous decision, it made me irritated enough to feel okay to just not watch the rest of the card. Thankfully the moment passed, as Bisping's outing was amazing. Florian's win was a real surprise to me; I really haven't thought much of him in the past, but I may have to restructure my opinion. Although that'd also mean I'd have to start paying attention to the 155lb(why?) division, and I really don't see that happening.

We'll see how the next UFN is this Wed; I hope Stephan doesn't take Rashad to decision. He's impressed me the least out of nearly anyone on the roster of TUF, therefore if Bonnar can't put him away commandingly, it'll be a bad sign to me.

Ross has the balls to be a great fighter but not the brains so much
Matt Hamell is a beast that kid has great potential to be the champ but he really needs to learn to keep his hands up and not just take a punch to return a punch

With Tito officially bringing Matt into Team Punishment, I don't think it'll be long before we see him on some prestigious UFC cards. I can see him main eventing in the next year or so; definitely would be a better pinnacle than watching more 155lb'ers trying to get a KO.

matt could do some damage at 205, i personally think bisbing would have beat him in the finals though...i really like matt as afighter, he was my favourite one on the show, but i think bisbing was dominate and would have got the better of him if they meet

I concur. Bisping is both innovative and explosive, which paired with his excellent conditioning makes for a horrible combination for whomever he's fighting. I see him having as excellent future in the UFC.

155's ofetn put on great fights. Don't over look them cuz they don't have huge muscles. They have the speed and stemina to go for hours which means they won't gas after the first round. The only reason that fight was boring was cuz it was an old time style of fight where the grappeler beat the stricker on the ground. But wait 'til you see more of Jens Pulver and Yves Edwards. They have speed and technique that you will never see in the LHW or HW's.
