This is copied straight from his blog.

FYI

Surgery went well. Posting this off my phone. I was told by the surgeons that it went as well as it possibly could. I will give more in depth later. Thanks for all the positive energy that has been sent my way. The road to recovery will be long and a hard one. I can't wait to get on it.--

It was a spinal fusion surgery. The disc between his L-2 and L-3 verts was very degenerated and L-2 and L-3 were starting to rub together making it painful to get around and impossible/dangerous to train. Nate describes the surgery as removing the degenerated disk and wrapping an artificial bone around the two verts and when it heals they will basically be fused together in to one larger vert. The healing should take 3 months or so and he is unclear as to whether he will be able to fight again but he is hopefull, optimistic, and looking forward to fighting again.

Best wishes to Nate in the healing process.

Thank you for the update, fallen. A scary injury for sure; I for one look forward to possibly seeing him in competition again.
