Mike's stand-up was easily some of the poorest I've ever seen, with punches clocking in at about 3mph. The fact that he endlessely hyped his knees(of which he threw about 2&1/2 during the entire bout) as well as his 'street fighting' experience made his showing that much worse. When your stand-up is beaten by a wrestler with a damaged elbow, you know you have to go back to basics in a big way. That being said, I was impressed with Matt's striking and all-around prowess. If he can lock in some submission knowledge he'll be a much larger threat; frankly, I don't know why there isn't some already there. Hopefully he'll bounce back for his semi-match. |
