If they expand beyond HHH and Michaels, I see them running the risk of 'stale faction syndrome.' Silver NWO, anyone?(shudders) Wolfpack post '98 Starcade?(sad shake of the head) NWO in the WWE?(getting too easy...) Granted two of these did happen in WCW, and they are all rooted in the NWO, put the pattern is the same. When they do bring back DX, I believe they should just stick with these two legends. The origional run of D-Generation X was a mainstay of the 'Attitude' era, in the which it filled a key purpose. HHH and SM have legitimate reasons to 'hate the system' as it were, but expanding it to multiple memberships is still a dangerous move to me. Namely:
Johnny Nitro&Melina: Plausible, as the office will likely feel that DX will need the female factor, but Nitro really needs to develop a real singles character before he could be taken seriously in such a role. Mysterio's been an unbelieveable and hollow paper champion because his 'title reign' has been complete and utter BS, which thankfully many people have seen straight through; I could see the same thing happening to Nitro with a quick and easy spot given in DX. If Nitro's thrown into the DX mix too soon, he'll be the Vincent of this faction.
Masters: Suspended; very little personality beyond the 'Look at me, I'm big!' shtick. Even less of a real ring mind, which is essential to be in an upper-echelon group such as DX.
Carlito: A likely canidate to me, but he doesn't fit the shock and anger template DX has very well. He does his own thing, and that's cool.
Randy Orton: He's come a long way from his early days in Evolution in my eyes, but problems in the office will likely keep him off of this high of an angle. For me personally, he's more believeable than most in such a role, but we'll have to see.
Road Dog: A lot of drug related problems in the past, but he seems to be keeping clean for TNA. Long-term contract will keep him there for awhile to come.
Billy Gunn: Ditto on the contract, and he's doing quite well in TNA. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I don't see any change with these two anytime soon.
Diesel(Kevin Nash): His only present injury is a self-broken career. I was a big fan of Nash at one time, but he's since fallen into repetitive, lowbrow, and weak lines, coupled with a worse attitude than ever where work is concerned. He's trying to milk his name, and the near eight-year old successes associated with it, too much nowadays. Physique wise, he's also hit rock bottom, but hey, at least he doesn't look as bad as his 'Jacknife Powerbomb'(translation: I pick you up and kind of drop you/let you go) does now. He's currently in TNA 'hunting' the X division, so if they're willing to pay him a lot for very little work, he won't go anywhere. Kevin Nash...I still remember Vinnie Vegas really well, so I wouldn't get too ****y now...
Sean Whitman(X-pac, Syxx, 1-2-3 Kid....): As much as I've enjoyed his performance in the past(namely as the 1-2-3 Kid), his days in wrestling seem to be nearly over. He made little to no impact in the NWO in the WWE, which was all out of proportion to his origional role in the faction in WCW. His DX antics should've made him stick more in the eyes of the fans, but for some reason, they haven't. I wouldn't mind seeing him back, but I really don't see it happening.
Chris Jericho: Good call Peanut, as Jericho is one of my favorite wrestlers of all time(topped only by Sting and HHH, but it's definitely a close list as is.) He very well could find a place in a new DX, but only if they really change the direction of it. Less mooning and stupid penis humor; more legitimate and charismatic mockery/anger would be a winning combination for me. Ring mind is definitely on par with both Michaels and HHH, so they'd work well together. Although a part of me says Carlito about him as well; Jericho tends to roll alone and do his own thing, but if the angle's done right, I could see him there. Although he's currently rolling around with Fozzy and dropping in on VH1 specials, he needs to come back! We need our party host, the answer to Y2K, the ayatollah of rock n rolla! True talent is at a dangerous low on Raw, and a good shot of Vitamin C is just what it needs.
Eugene: Hey, they worked him into an Evolution storyline for some incomprehensible reason. With the creative angle the office seems to be taking, I wouldn't bat an eye if this went through.
