Trigg announces retirement
By Mark Pickering
Wednesday, May 3, 2006

UFC veteran and PRIDE color commentator Frank Trigg issued a statement on Saturday to thank fans for their support after he announced his retirement from active competition.

The 34 year old last competed at Rumble on the Rock 9 where he lost out to Carlos Condit in a welterweight tournament match up.

“I am overwhelmed with the support that I have received regarding my announcement of retirement. It is truly humbling as well as inspiring. It's been a rough year and I just need to take some "me time" to figure out the direction that I will be going in, but I'm not and can not leave the sport entirely........

THE NEW PRIDE SHOW ON FSN WILL BE AIRING THIS SUNDAY AT 9PM IN MOST MARKETS, BUT CHECK YOU LOCAL LISTINGS TO BE SURE.

Once again, I am amazed by all of your support and kind words. It is times like this when you realize who your TRUE friends and fans are, and that's what gets me through. So, I wanted to personally take the time to thank all of you.

Twinkletoes is taking a step back?! Personally, it's a sad thing to hear. He's been an excellent force in the sport; hopefully he'll stick by his words and stay involved in some way.

But hey, comebacks are all the rage; maybe we'll see him be actively competing again someday.

Thank you for the news, fallen.
