So what we have here is a classic example of immense hype coupled with a seemingly unprepared athlete. Frank Shamrock ended he and Cesar's bout with, in his words, "the old looping overhand right of death" at 21 seconds into the match. Serious shades of Arlovski and Buentello here, and I'm afraid that Cesar will be derided as a "half-fighter" for it. He claimed to have a record of 14-0(unsactioned MMA fights), yet that didn't seem to show very well. Namely:
-Frank Shamrock is an amazing striker. Standing up is NOT a good idea.
-His background is well known; definitely not one that which would suit him standing toe to toe with Frank.
-Should've spoken to his family more; Royce didn't beat Ken by butting heads with him.
That being said, I feel Cesar has a good future in MMA ahead of him. He gets my vote for outstandingly humble athlete and role model of the year for sure; in his post fight interview he revealed a strength of character that can't be faked and is rarely shown by men who've won a fight, let alone lost one. I feel he's an excellent man who'se had a bit of a rough start. He freely admits that when the bell rang, his nervousness pushed his game plan right out the window. In that moment he decided to throw punches with Frank, and we see how that turned out.
Frank on the other hand was giddy with success, yet still fairly down to earth about his win. Can't shake all the cocky aftermath though; after all, he's still a Shamrock. Although he's liking the life of being a free agent, he's apparently heading in the direction of Pride. In his own words, he really wants to step in with Sakuraba. That'd definitely be a match to see; I hope it does come around.

Although that's just my take; what do the rest of you think?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's going to PRIDE, unless he decides to take another 2 years off. But he is kinda cocky for a guy who beat someone who had never been in an actual match. But we'll have to wait and see if he's really that good, seeing on how much MMA has changed in the last couple of years. A rematch with Tito would be nice, but there's no way he's going back to the UFC cuz of personal reasons.

Yeah, he and Ken had a bit of a falling out at one time. Even though that's slightly reconciled, Frank still has a beef with the UFC. Pride will be a good niche for him; if he's too cocky rolling in, they should just throw him in with Fedor for his debut match. At least he wasn't a Mir return though, ya?

Oh yeah. It'd be nice to see him go against Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson, but it'd be even better to see Rich vs. Henderson.

Hi bro. Have not seen footage, but my thought is as my grandfather used to drill into me is " any guy can knock another guy out, on any given day".
PROOF later found me in a funny situation, that ruined me as a boxer and converted me to KickBoxing.
I remember being barred from my boxing gym for two weeks, cause things got heated and I knock the Amataur North Coast Light Heavyweight Champion cold with a right uppercut, funny thing was I was a un-ranked light middleweight at the time Could never get a fight at my weight again after that so moved to kickboxing.

LOL!
Good on ya, Pumba. Titles mean little when you're staring up from your back for sure.
I can empathize with your ejection from boxing though....
An employee at Chuck E Cheese told me I was too big to play on the equipment; happened on my seventh birthday...

As I said before, Cesar took his loss with more grace than most athletes take with a win for sure. He has an excellent attitude; I look forward to seeing more of him in the future. Everyone's number comes up every now and again in the sport; what we do with our losses is what truly defines us.

His quoted desire is to mix it up with Sakuraba in Pride. Here's to hoping it happens for sure.

Yup, he wants to get back in the grove. I'd love to see Saku and Frank mix it up. Great grappling match that's for sure. Maybe another "Saku vs. Carlos Newton" type of match between those two.
