Agreed. I could see doing them if you can't do normal bench pressing, but other then that I wouldn't use them.

I researched and couldn't find you, does that mean you're not good enough? Probably cuz I don't have enough info, those are some really big numbers though, so it's understandable that others would ask for proof.

Does board pressing help a lot? I have strong triceps already, my weakest part of my bench is at the very bottom, for me it gets easier as I go up. How can you train to improve the lower part of your rep strength?

Maybe just going up 1/2 way then back down?

Strong triceps are needed for the bottom part of the movement too. Although that is probably more easily correct3ed with shoulder pressing to increase shoulder strength. I tried just presing with the bottom half of the motion but it didn't help. I was over training a bit at the time so maybe that's not a good indicator.

But definitely check out your form and make sure it's perfect.

Thank you. (depends on the definition of great) I seem to get as much support from the Titan Centurian Squat suit in single ply as I ever did in the Inzer 2 ply of ten years ago. It is hard to overcome the difference in a Benchshirt, though, being openback and closedback that I compete in today. Deadlift is deadlift,,, not much help from a suit. My numbers have stayed the same.
My wife bought me a video camera last year when we saw that Ed Coan had posted a video of a set of 5 at 700 deadlift on U Tube and I told her that I had done that but I have not used the camera yet.

Jake about the PM, I would love to help if I can. Although today I am travelling with our Chapel Paster, who is a World Master Champion Oly lifter. We are speaking at Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati today at noon.

I herniated myself in the upper ab last May and am still nursing the area. Which is now just a small bump near my sternum. I did compete in the Nasa USA Nationals which was drug tested in late June of this year. Come deadlift time I did what was needed to win as I am trying to gain sponcers for the near future. Winning in the spotlight to gain notoriaty.
I should be easy to find at NASA-Sports.com.
Thanks for the attention...Marty

this guy is lying... there are no smith machines at westside barbell and nowone that trains with louie will recommend the smith machine period

for working the bottom portion you can do pause press where you bench like normal but pause at the bottom for like 2 seconds and go back up and shoulder, and chest will help the bottom since your okay at the top you must have strong triceps

This is the proplem with speaking on an open forum, which I will be hesitant to do in the future.
"Shorty", please reread what was said. At no time did any one say there was anything at Louie's gym.
Of course the smith machine's use on the overload principle would only work the top half of the press. (getting the athelete used to handling more weight)
At a mere 64 inches tall and with such a short stroke I'm sure your benchpress would get much more attention than mine. But in the future I will be ignorring your advice as it is obvious you are not a thorough study... Not A Liar

Yeah that's a respectable response on both parts. It's reasonable not to believe your ridiculously high numbers without proof cuz anyone can say they do that. If you really do then... well you're the man lol. But a video or something would be nice.

Hey there buddy no need to get all hostile again. For your information I never checked out your "last contest" so excuse me for simply asking for a couple videos of you because I'm extremely impressed by what you've been claiming all over this thread. But now I really simply don't care all that much anymore so we'll just leave it at that and call it a day. Later strong man.

I would suggest working your chest, arms and shoulders. And of course benchpress. Nothing happens in a day. Use a Smith machine with a saftey lock to press and work your numbers heavy to build pressing power. Know that a competitive BPresser will touch his sturnam not his chest. A bodybuilder his chest. The elbows are kept close to the body to lower the weight and to start the press back up. The lats and traps are flexed. The shoulders are pulled tightly together on the bench. As the weight moves up to the transition point (where the chest and back give way to triceps) the elbow are flaired out slightly until the lockout. When not on a machine the weight touches bottom at the sturnam and locks out above the chest.
Good luck and let me know how it goes...Marty

Dallas, that is what I'm talking. You are not showing the effort. You haven't gone to find the info I spoke of ,so I must ask do you show this kind of effort in the gym. Then as a coach that is the first thing I would work on. Decide how bad you want it and be willing to pay that price. Good luck, let me know if I can help...Marty

Hostility does get my voice heard. If my style offends you,,,,, run.

Dallas?.......... ok Ohio.

I'm not gonna bust my ass to search for your credentials, but it would be nice to show me and some of the viewers here watching these incredible accomplishments. But as V.I.P. I'll just stand my grounds and leave it alone before this whole mess escalates into something it really shouldn't. All I wanted was for you to post some cool footage of your claims because that would been awesome to see. Later.

So, I thought I would try to find this guy online, but not with much luck. Marty Einstein was the closest I got, but he's from Arizona and his totals are way less than this guy's. I don't think people are automatically assuming that you're lying supermarty, but rather would just like to see some evidence of said lifts. They are impressive, but one becomes suspicious when you can't support the claims you have made. I tried finding you, but to no avail. Even a link to some of your meet results would work.

Look at the powerlifting meet I specified, on the web site I said, in the weightclass I mentioned and you will undoubtedly find me.
I never heard of Marty Einstein.
Not a powerlifting fan I'm guessing.

Well, I've tried looking all over the website you gave (those numbers were done under a NASA meet right?). Came up empty-handed. I'm not going to waste my time looking for some "mysterious" guy. Just post some videos or direct links to some results/stats. If you're so confident in your numbers, I would think you would be more than willing to post some evidence of said numbers.

I just checked the websight to see. There was only one Marty in the meet. It worked for me.

I have no clue, i can only assume his name is actually Martin. Hes a SHW master and thats the only SHW master in the full powerlifiting division. I wont post his last name, since he obviously doesnt want his name on the forum, but just look for Martin rather then marty.

Thanks Jake. Reps.
Marty, I wasn't trying to be a jerk or discredit your accomplishments. Sorry, if that was the case. I just wanted to see the results first hand. Congrats on the lifts.

That's my next goal, getting my bench numbers good. Anyone have some good sites we can go to to see the methods you guys are using to press big weight?

Marty, how do you like using bands? I tried a max lift day and I was using (2) 1" bands on the smith. I was thinking of using bands on max days to make the lower portion easier and on dynamic days using the bands and chains to make going up harder, I've been hanging dumbbells from the bars on dynamic days, I am pressing on mondays and fridays now what do you think?

So far I have done 500 pounds in weight on the smith using bands. What else should I try to work my max up? How often do you do speed work and max rep days? Do you have any type of pressing routine?

What do you think of floor presses also?
