I dont think i can think of any sport in which you need big biceps!!! They should be down the bottom of the list when devising a training routine for a sport other than bodybuilding imo

concentrate on core and legs. But try to get all your bodyparts worked in a week. Work sprints into your routine and plyometrics. Eat-sleep-train

First of all as someone once told me what are you going to use your biceps for in football. Mostly all of your force is coming from your legs. If your a lineman benching helps for explosive power in blocking.

bro biceps are useless for football, completely, biceps r for show, for football you need to hit squats, bench, and deadlifts, hard as **** and then you will see a increase in size and strentgh. You also have to lift everything else shoulders, which powercleans are great for football, back eevry muscle has to be worked. A saying an older powerlifter once told me in my gym "why lift arms if you have no chest or back", pretty much saying do not worry about biceps as much until you build sixe and strentgh in everything. For football eat a **** load of food lift a **** load of heavy weights and keep the reps low, around 6

biceps are not just for show...if you have weak biceps and weak forearms you might as well jump off a cliff LOL....... everyone needs to help the guy...if he wants help on his biceps then he needs help! he needs overall power and size ! to be trully great one must have a 100% beast ready to be unleashed with no weaknesses, its kind of degrading to hear someone say that you dont need something...he needs complete power in every muscle of his body. nothing should lack, 100% is 100% and that 10% missing between 90% and 100% is what will make you fail at something

Your right bro you do need everything, but what i meant was you should put more emphasize on squats deadlifts and bench right now, build everything else up, do not just focus on biceps like he made it sound in his original posts. You must worry about the power and strength in football first. As a football player i never really focuse much on biceps and none of my coaches ever focused on biceps. when you think of it as a linebacker and fullback, you need squats, deadlifts, and bench

biceps might not be the most important.... but useless?? no i do think they could be beneficial especially in tackling if you are fighting with them and you have to pull them down... pulling is biceps to a point no?

agree with everyone here, arms are the least of your worries in football. build your legs, POWERLIFT- focus on compound movements. squats, lunges, deadlifts, bench, clean and jerk... find some HIT programs. honestly man, your coaches arent doing their jobs, they should have you on some powerlifting program. go to the gym and completely exhaust yourself, do not rest more than 30-45 seconds, keep moving. dont forget sprints- linebackers can bench the world but they gotta be able to move.

in strong man you better have top notch biceps... theyre a big part of pulling and holding things....... everything should be strong..... if you cant curl much then there's alot youre not gonna be lifting in competitions... dont be weak period! be as strong as you can be. i dont see why someone would make something weaker ! everything makes up a unit...if one thing is faulty then the rest can fall...... no biceps? no pulling! think about it...your rows would be better if you have stronger biceps! dont preach weakness! preach strength! its always about getting stronger wether youre a powerlifter...strongman or a body builder........at the very core they are all the same ...

Personally if your trying to build your bicep strength and work everything else use pull ups. Your biceps will grow and you will hit your back like no other. As for the rest of your body focus on olympic style lifting along with bench and squat. A workout like the bigger, faster, stronger would probably help you out alot. 3 days a week and it hits everything strength and explosiveness

for mass why just focus on bigger biceps? just focus on compound lifts, bench, deadlifts, squats, etc.

I couldn't AGREE more.

I train in the "feel good about myself" sport that involves big biceps.

Likewise, I don't abandon other muscle groups; I train my legs, shoulders, back and arms equally.

People tell me all the time give my posterior chain more attention than my biceps - I don't. I want to develop my body as a whole so I focus on my body as a whole, giving one muscle group more attention than the other doesn't make sense to me.

I train my legs for functional strength while I train my biceps and triceps to impress the ladies.
