I bought a Inzer Blast bench shirt and it has a closed back which sucks. So I am planning on cutting the back on it later today.

So I am going to cut the back open top to bottem and if I was to add the velcro myself to it. Any suggestions on where would be better to place it. I was told that to velcro the whole back of the shirt and also to only velcro mid to lower back on the shirt.

Anyone have any other suggestions or anything else?

Why do you want to cut in it the first place? Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to have my shirt tighter on me because I can sync all the muscles that would be working at the same time and feel them work.

Ohh...I see. Then if you do cut the back, you could either use velcro or use it like a corset with laces in the back.

ya i was thinking about doing velcro because of the simplicity of it........because i dont want to deal with the corset if it comes unlaced..

do you think that to corset is better than the velcro at all....because i am still open to doing really anything to it

If you get someone to tie and untie the corset, it may be a better way to go just because it'll prob be stronger than the Velcro if you're on a heavy set and you roll up or down the bench it may come undone. Personally, I would use the corset, but it's up to you. Ask roccodart, he may have some helpful suggestions.

I'd say you go with Velcro. You are not going to need it tight, , the velcro will clost it enough so you're not flapping around and its flush if you put a belt on.

I've got a Metal Viking. It has an open back w/ velcro. Its my first, so i don't really have anything to compare it to, but i like it. Gotta stretch the sleeves, wet it and put bags on my arms to get it on....but it does the job.

Bench shirts help to increase how much weight you can move in the gym. The difference between a raw bench, and a shirted bench (say someone with adequate experience) can be astounding.

When you descend on the bench, the shirt stretches out across your chest, more leverage and what not to push it up I guess.

Cut the back open, assuming the federation you compete in alows and open back. Open back shirts allow better adjustment and bigger lifts.

Velcro the back at about waist level and when you have someone put the velcro on make it snug to loose.

BEnch shirts protect the shouers and pecs from injury but as mentioned can hgave a huge carry over . I've gotten 215 pounds out of a shirt.

By the way I just noticed you have a blast shirt. I wouldn't cut that shirt open. I'd buy a real shirt very soon and order it open back. FOr those of you with anything other than a blast shirt get cutting.

eh i alrdy cut it and i could tell the world of difference....it was not easier to actually use it but gettin it on and off was a lot better....

only reason why i am screwing around with it is beacause its my first shirt and i have to learn somewhere even if it is only a blast. Before I start to considering doing anything outside of raw comps I am going to get something a lot better.

and just for the sheer fact of screwing around with it I was able to get 315x3 no problem at all

The blast doesn't offer much carryover and is VERY uncomfortable to wear.

The rage X is VERY hard to use. It is kind of in between a denim and a poly. It has great stopping power and they don't wear out. I did my highest competition lift in it 655@275. The carry over on these is unbelievable but getting the weight to touch can be an issue.

Here is avideo of a rage X in action.
