yea this is nothing new really, its just becoming more and more intertwined in modern society, all in the name of protecting our nation, to some extent i can understand it but then again where does it end? Kinda on the wire about this issue, i mean we need something to watch the bad guys, but then again we need something to protect us good guys also... just dont say bomb on a plane, like man did i get bombed last night at the bar, or hey this plane is really the bomb, that flight attendant is really a bomb shell.. ok just kidding but its kinda not either, see where does it end..??

You don't think this is new??? While there may have been eaves dropping on phone calls in the past where government agencies spied on specific individuals or groups, this new NSA policy makes everyones privacy a non-existant issue. With the ability to not only listen to phone calls, but read e-mails, listen in on cell phones, capture faxes etc privacy is now OVER!!! Now some will say "well I have nothing to hide so i don't care" the fact of the matter is nothing that should remain private will remain so. At any time anyone could have a phone call listened into, or e-mails read or worst private information be it medical records, medications, ID information captured by entities who you are totally unaware of. The rumor of cameras in cable boxes, tivo boxes etc brings to reality the TVs in Orwells 1984 that watched the viewer in as much as the viewer watched the TV. Where is this info going? who is watching, listening or reading the info? and what interpretation is being made of it and how will these alphabet agencies come after a person(s) who they "THINK" are suspect?. THere are already WAAAAAAAAY too many mistakes made as it is, given the unreliability of information and the interpretation thereof by individuals hell bent on feeling like they have "found something"..

The government has been spying on people forever. If you think it is in the name of national protection, well that is funny. Consider the crime rate in our nation and that the US has more people in prison than any other place in the ENTIRE WORLD, a lot of which is BS crimes.

We have no control over crime, people are not safe, simply walk down the street in the wrong place, at the wrong time and you will either die or get your ass robbed or beat down.

You can't protect a city with 50 police officers, you can't protect a large city with 1,000 police officers. The only real security is to carry your own gun and protect yourself. I've seen people, beat, stabbed, shot and killed in the middle of the street, monitoring your cell phone isn't going to do sh*t. Wake up and get with reality.

I've been around LEOs (law enforcement officers) my whole life and most of them have said in all honestly they're there to clean up after a crime has been committed. It was kind of disturbing to hear that the first time especially from a cop but it’s true.

I'd rather see 200,000 US troops patrolling the streets of the US than wasting their lives in Afghanistan.

Intelligence is important, but the common sense of having more people here in the streets of the US to protect us is the #1 priority from a security stand point. Is allowing someone to look on my computer going to save millions of lives? only thing they'll find is some old porn files and some video games, do they really think plotting terrorists are going to store files that are readily available on an open network?

When they are cutting police officers because of budget cuts in the state and we spend billions overseas in a war we have a problem. They aren't sending bombs from their country to ours, they can't attack us from a far, we need that protection here.

Last summer I had to punch some guy because he was trying to beat up some kid in the middle of the street and the police didn't come till the guys family who I punched called them.

We need more police and more protection because in the US people will sit back and watch you get a foot up your ass like it's just another tv show.
