man i hate slander campaigns. i just lost ALOT of respect for Schwarzenegger. the PoW thing is getting old, i mean ye its great that he served your country and went through what he did, but being a war veteran and governing one of the most powerful nations in the world is a completely different thing. depending on your perspective, it may be a bad thing. who honestly thinks a man that has suffered torture, deprivation, hunger, thirst and all that jive, will turn around and show compassion for his fellow man? i think that would encourage him to persecute other countries. im not a big fan of Obama either for any of you who thought i might an Obama nut lol

in relation to Schwarzeneggers speech, he mentioned how he left Europe because the socialist 'spread the wealth' ideology lessened opportunities. He moved to the states for his opportunities in bodybuilding and Hollywood. i dont think economic struggle had anything to do with it. and elaborating on what he said about spreading the wealth:
45million Americans have no health care
The richest 10% of America own 80% of all wealth
35million Americans live in 'poverty' (this is a tricky one for me because poverty can defined as a number of things)
- stats taken from the video to 'Sleep Now In The Fire' by Rage Against The Machine so i wouldnt advise you to strictly believe them lol

i dont think either Obama or McCain are campaigning for the interests of 'the people', they are campaigning for their hunger of power and wealth.

and i hope none of you guys fall for the "America is the greatest nation in the world" brainwashing technique...

Oh, so we aren't the greatest nation in the world..

Socialist policies sound good for the lazy but it inhibits innovation and in the process makes an entire country lazy. Look at France. No major problems we face will be solved by either candidate imo.

Yes but I hardly think that deregulation is the answers. Companies and the free market are becoming too strong and are unfortunately are starting to infiltrate politics big time. They are too strong to say hands off laissez faire economics will work because the small government will be too vulnerable to manipulation by the private sector. Look at any grassroots candidate, they never win and never get the chance because the media is obviously tilted toward the 2 party system. Lobbyists control Washington and unfortunately I don't ever think that will change.

So why not just say **** it. obama 08 lol it may not make sense but its better than somebody holding onto failed ideoligies when mccain doesn't even want a smaller government. He never votes for deregulation and hes similar to obama in almost every issue except some economics, the war(a little because they both want to stay in the war), and social issues that the only thing the american people actually care about because they are all pretty much dumb. Nobody wants to wake the **** up and actually look at the issues cuz if they actually did america might actually improve. But no we can't even look at these issues and compare them because both candidates are the same. Although I don't agree with classic conservitism its still better than this neoconservatism that is basically garbage and gives us no choice.

agreed ^^^ but i think its unfair to blame American citizens for a ****ty Government, its the same with most (if not all) governments. the media controls us. people are brainwashed by the media. the Government is controlled by the market because the market pays for the candidate to be put into power. i cant imagine many business/corporations would fund a communist campaign. thats why we have such an environment problem, the Government are scared to stand against Transport corporations and tell them to clean up their act because it isnt a massive problem for Ford, Chevorlet etc to turn around and say "**** you, we're moving to China" and if that happens, the economy will go tits up. Politics works for the prosperity of the economy, not the general population that the Government is supposed to represent

I really like ron paul but i don't even think hes running since he dropped out of the republican spot and I would never vote for him. What would he do about the corporations controlling all of the media... nothing... because he believes in deregulation until the government would be so small it would be controlled even more. If are government is already being manipulated and the people only hear from the mainstream media it would become even worse if the government could not at least defend the citizens. monopolies would run rampant with deregulation so I hardly think more of it would be the cure.

ye i would rather have local Governments than a national Government. that would make a much better representative of the citizens. though the 'representative' of my constituency is nothing like the typical citizen. also with local governments, how would national conflicts be dealth with? what if each local government disagreed with one another?

They already do.. just as states have different laws but it has to do more with money management. I think local governments are more efficient and know how to spend money better.

we kind of have the same thing. our local towns have their own councils, which is a kinda sub branch of the government. they have set budgets too. they work quite efficiently but i dont think each individual constituency is fairly represented in Govt

Yeah america just made the worst choice it's made in a long time! All I can say is I tried and voted for McCain. Now we get to support the welfare recipients and losers that don't want to work and have a terrorist connected president.Yay? I want to move to canada or somewhere! Sorry just had to rant a little.

Hahah do squats. Still though that's not right.

I can't stand republicans for the most part. While America is prolly the greatest country it could be much much better. WE are certainly not 100% free.

I agree completely with you on this one, however I must say its easier said than done! It really is. Whoever is in charge will always abuse their power. Thats just how it is. How many "true" leaders can you think of? I just got one in my mind, and that is Layne Norton. I thought of myself as a true leader too, but as you said I was just selfish and arrogant (still a leader though!)... And its not really the way to go. You will eventually fall for your ignorance and pride. But hey, thats life. I will make the same "mistake" again one day..

Wow, I'm sensing some bitterness here gringo!
Where's the UNITY? I thought after the Obamanation was elected everything would just magically get better and the country would unite and we'd all sit around a campfire roasting marshmallows and singing songs about hope?

Honestly, I couldn't agree with you more on this. I also did my part in the fight agains socialism, but the American sheeple left us all hanging.

Don't get me wrong, I think McCain sucks too, just not as hard as Obama.
But, he's in now, so... all we can do is get ready to eat a huge **** sandwich for at least the next four years... and pray that the GOP doesn't try to run Palin in 2012.

Mccain sucks, Obama's a little better- watch he'll do a good job, and I'm the last person to say I agree with anything in the government believe me. I think they're a bunch of lying idiots- but I think Obama'll do some good for this country.

Ralph Nadar '08 how awesome would that be??
