Must u be on a bulk and eating 500 calories over your maintenance to gain muscle? could you be gaining muscle if u were to eat your maintenance calories or maybe just a few hundred calories over your maintenance?

i believe you can, the maintenance diet is more in terms of not gaining or cutting bf,just keeping things as is so to speak, and as long as your getting in a good daily diet you should have no issues with putting on muscle

slower gains for sure
i got i bit stronger while cutting on certain exercises so who knows its all trial and error.

Over the summer I ate just above my maintenence and gained like 5 lbs or so while staying just as lean.

Gains will surely come if training is in check. They will be slow and lean but they'll come.
