Costco had a deal goin on with some ground turkey, so I bought 4 lbs of it lol. Lookin to get some easy recipes, so I can make a lb or 2 at once, then just put in the fridge for later on. Usually what I do with ground beef is grill it in a pan, then put some ketchup and barbeque sauce on it when I'm done, and then eat it with some whole wheat bread.

You guys got something creative?

Have some whole wheat pasta. Make some meat sauce with the turkey and pasta sauce, either homemade or store bought (watch the sodium).

this is my main meal... I eat it about 3 times a day.. Every day.

I cook 3lbs of brown rice and 3lbs of ground turkey at once.

Just brown the turkey, drain the grease, put toco seasoning in it and cook it a lil more.

I mixed the brown rice and turkey together and put a lil hot sauce in it and I can eat a ton of it! Its how I've been bulking! Cuz I'm burn out of chicken and stuff.

that's a pretty solid idea. So you cook the brown rice like you normally would, then just mix it with the ground turkey and cook a little bit more? wow that's awesome. do you put any kind of sauce with it?

i just got a chub that sounds so awesome lol

Taco salad...

Brown turkey, or beef, drain as needed, season with garlic powder, onion powder, and a little bit of kosher salt.

Head of lettuce, core as usual, dice remaining to a fine amount.

Cheese, use fat free or 2% of favorite kind, pre-shredded or shred yourself.

Chili Cheese Fritos, crumple a handful or two per person you are serving.

Bernstein's-Light Fantastic-Cheese Fantastico, Dressing/Marinade (or other Bernstein Light Fantastic dressing, or your favorite light dressing)

Mix 2-3 handfuls of ground meat, 2-3 handfuls of diced lettuce, 1-2 handfuls of cheese, 1-2 handfuls of crushed fritos, and lightly spread dressing on. Mix/toss well. Vary amount of ingredients based on taste or cut/bulk.

Enjoy.

Taco stuff is great to make with ground turkey. I'm a fan of cooking it like hamburger though.

A little Worcestershire sauce, onions, garlic, Frank's Red hot... As Emeril would say, BAM!

Chicken barley vegetable soup
1.5lbs Lean Ground Turkey
2 Bell Peppers (diced)
1 medium/large onion (diced)
1 garlic clove (finely choped)
1 rib of celerey (sliced)
1 packet Taco Seasoning
3-1/2 cup water
1 can Diced (italian) tomatoes
3/4 cup Quick cooking Barley
1/8 tsp oregeno

In a dutch oven start to brown lean ground turkey and add 1/2 the taco seasoning packet then (while the turkey is still browning) add in the peppers, oinion, garlic, and celery. Finish browning the turkey
When the turkey is brown add the water, tomatoes, and the rest of the taco seasoning. Bring to a boil. Then cover and let simmer for 20 minutes.
Add the barley cover and let cook for another 20 minutes. Stir in the oregeno and serve.

I made that the other week and even my not so health conscious wife enjoyed it. Other then that i pretty much just make patties out of it. There are some good ideas in this thread though that i'll have to try.

that sounds like something good for a sunday afternoon lol.

I advise trying out what tknight suggested. i tried it yesterday and it was fantastic. 2 lbs of turkey breast, 1.5 lbs of brown rice, some ketchup, some hot wing sauce, some tabasco, and some random seasonings. really good

as much as I love chicken, it gets hard eating it day in and day out. the ground turkey was a great switch for me, unfortunately I won't be using it as much once I go on my cut.

why wont you use it on the cut? you can get rid of even more of the fat by draining/rinsing the meet. Not that it has alot more then chicken breasts or anything to begin with.

Well I always like to eat my ground turkey/ground beef with ketchup and some kind of barbeque or hot sauce, which would be way too much sodium for me. I'm a very picky eater

Haha i can understand that :-) Mustards are always good. I wouldnt worry so much about the sodium in those (unless your medically instructed to do so ie the dash diet), as i would the HFCS and sugars in the ketchup or bbq sauce (which i think they offer low/no sugar versions of each). Although do whatevers going to keep you consistant and in control. I'm pretty good at derailing threads it seems.

haha probably 45 minutes. Chopping up the vegetables was the longest prep part the rest of the time is just cooking it.

I've switched away from those types of sauces and use light salad dressings/marinades of varying flavors instead. Taste just as good to me, and have less sugar/fat etc.

I also crock pot a lot of foods when I need to change things up as well. Easy to make and can control what goes into it.

Waldens? I'll have to see if the stores around here carry that.

Teran, I used my little crock pot earlier this week to cook some chicken. It was quite amazing
