A handful of almonds or 2 tablespoons peanut butter and a big glass of milk/casein shake.

And there's always cottage cheese..

A cup of Cottage Cheese, a packet of splenda, and a little bit of cinnamon. It tastes so good you will think it's bad for you...you can add peanut butter too if you need a little fat.

Maybe it's just me, but there is no way that a glass of milk and 2 tbsp of peanut butter (natural) can last me 7.5+ hours. I tend to eat either cottage cheese, PB&J sandwiches, oatmeal and eggs, or just a regular meal I would eat during the day (ex. brown rice, chicken). Most of you probably don't think carbs before bed would be good, but I am an ectomorph, so I don't gain fat easily (if any at all). Guess it depends on body type and whether you are bulking or cutting.

i dont see the point of making last 7.5hours+ and i also don't see how a pb&j sandwich, oatmeal, eggs etc would last that long..

last time i checked cheese is made from milk i don't understand why everyone thinks that the only way to obtain casein protein is through cottage cheese, also last time i checked a PEANUT BUTTER and jelly sandwich contains PEANUT BUTTER (HIGH IN HEATLHY FATS, FATS ALSO TEND TO SLOW DOWN THE DIGESTION OF FOODS) and jelly which about 99% of its carbs are in the form of SIMPLE SUGARS, most the sugars are fructose to be exact and of course the bread, another great source of simple carbs. Having a slow digesting meal before bed is completely over rated, last time i checked LBJ (very knowledgeable guy as many would agree) and i think Freak (probably the smartest guy on these boards when it comes to nutrition) take whey protein pre bed. Like i said, slow digesting foods pre-bed is over rated. Freak you mind chiming in on this?

i dont see the point of making last 7.5hours+<<< what?
I personally don't want to wake up in the middle of the night and eat/drink a meal because I would then have trouble falling back to sleep. A PB&J sandwich, eggs, etc. might not hold me 7.5+ completely, but certainly more than 1 glass of milk and 2 tbsp. of PB. I should have specified: My PB&Js consist of whole grain 100% wheat bread (complex), natural PB, and the jelly is sugar free. Sometimes I use a reduced sugar jelly as well. I am also known to drink a whey shake before bed.

you're missing the point, you don't NEED to wake up in the middle of the night to eat if you dont have a meal that can last 7hours+. You're making the pre bed meal sound as if its really that important. Going without food for 7hours while sleeping is completely different then going without food 7hours while you're awake. And what makes you think whole grain, natural pb, and jelly can last 7hours? milk for one contains casein protein which last for a good 4-6hours you're assuming that a bigger meal can last longer while its true i don't think a pb&j sandwich is much bigger than milk and pb.

Different body types, different people. You're an endo right? I'm an ecto. My metabolism is racing day AND night (more so during the day of course, but nonetheless, still moving during the night). With personal trial and error, I have determined what foods and what amounts of those foods work for me.

have some fiberous veggies along with whatever protein you're eating before bed if you are having issues of getting hungry.
