What? Pepsi is going to distribute Muscle Milk ? Yes, it’s true! Pepsi has signed an agreement with CytoSport to distribute Muscle Milk. Under the terms of the agreement, Pepsi will have a license to distribute only the ready-to-drink line of Muscle Milk and Muscle Milk Light in its territories in the U.S. and Canada. The agreement is effective immediately and Pepsi will begin distribution in the U.S. in January. This is interesting news to us here at SupplementGenius.com as we’ve heard rumors of this brewing for some time now.

"Strengthening and diversifying the Pepsi product portfolio is one of our top priorities. By teaming up with CytoSport, we are entering a new beverage segment with attractive long-term growth prospects," said Pepsi North America president Rob King (pictured on left). "Muscle Milk has established itself as one of the leading functional nutrition beverage brands, and adding it to our portfolio will enable us to capitalize on the opportunities in this exciting category."

The Pepsi robust go-to-market system is unsurpassed in the beverage industry," said CytoSport president Greg Pickett . "By working with Pepsi, we’ll be able to greatly extend the reach of the Muscle Milk brand and put our products in the hands of more consumers than ever before. This is a beverage category with tremendous growth potential, and this agreement further enhances CytoSport’s leading position in the category."

With Pepsi Distributing Muscle Milk, What Does This Mean For Us?

Expect to see Muscle Milk in virtually every place you find Pepsi. It’s likely to be sold in gas stations and variety stores for much cheaper than you’d find it for in a typical GNC. Also expect Coke and Anheuser-Busch to seek out their own protein RTDs to match Pepsi. Labrada Nutrition and ISS Research both have similar protein RTDs (I actually prefer ISS Research’s Oh Yeah! RTD over Muscle Milk). These two companies now may become increasingly attractive to Coke and Anheuser-Busch.

Very interesting. I guesse that will be kinda cool though. If you are in a pinch you'll be able to grab a shake anywhere you find a vending machine. Smart move for pepsi

I don't drink musclemilk or pepsi, now they have cemented their loss of a customer.

This could be the first sign of a slow change in public eating. Perhaps we'll be able to start going out and actually getting our protein and whole grains without trans fat and HFCS?! That'd be nice.

I agree but I thought muscle milk was loaded with a lot of sugar and fat in em? Muscle Milk as far as I know is probably the worst choice for nutrition out of all of the supplements but I think people just look at it and say oh Muscle Milk, I just ran on the bike at the gym for 15 minutes so I'll grab some of that. I think its a bad choice for anybody that really knows anything about health or bodybuilding.

there's been muscle milk in gas stations for a couple years where I'm at. It seems to only be marathon stations though. And there's way to much fat in those things but it is nice to have them around if you need one every now and then.

Now that I think about that it's true, never bought Musclemilk before. Ultimate nutrition is def. the worst. Their products are hydrogenated and have HFCS. What idiot would buy those??

Zack what are you talking about, Pepsi's king! I compared them side by side and pepsi (diet) has less of a weird after taste then Coke IMO.

The hilarious thing is the people who are gonna be buying the stuff at $4 a bottle or whatever are probably also gonna be the people that don't know anything about a healthy diet. Before they were probably drinking diet pepsi out of the vending machine (maybe 2 or 3 a day). Not the best choice, but probably not the worst. Now these people are gonna be buying Muscle Milk out of vending machines at the same rate, probably thinking they are being healthier. 300 cal per serving in addition to their existing calorie intake.

I like muscle milk o.k. and drink it a few nights a week if I'm bulking. But I would not recommend to someone trying to lose weight/"diet."

ON whey is my bread and butter.

Literally, I eat it instead of bread and butter. I tried the bread and butter diet and got poor results. Doing much better with ON whey twice a day.
