Yes, I know we are all different, a diet that works for you won't work for me, etc. I'm just having a hard time finding what things to eat to cut. I'm not overweight, just out of shape. I need to lose my gut then I'm going to start a clean bulk. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

What are good foods to get into my diet? Chicken and whey protein are given. Is oatmeal and tuna acceptable for a cutting diet? How many calories am I suppose to aim for in a cutting diet?

Read the article man its all laid out there. You HAVE to read it at least 3x and take notes. Otherwise it will go right over your head.

I read it and read over what I didn't understand. I believe I'm an 3/4 ectomorph and 1/4 mesomorph with a gut. A few quesitons came to mind:

- Is it possible to lose body fat without losing weight?
- If I'm trying to build mass and tone up and lose body fat at the same time, is this possible? If so, am I looking at a clean bulk or am I looking to cut?
- I would like to focus on cardio more than heavy lifting. Would this impact my diet?

Unless you're 'assisted', it's virtually impossible to gain mass while losing fat. They're polar opposites. To lose fat/weight you need to be in a caloric deficit, to gain muscle/weight you need to be in a caloric excess.
Therefore, losing fat without losing weight is also virtually impossible (if you're natural).
I would not focus on cardio, lifting heavy while cutting helps to spare your muscle mass (you're body won't keep what it doesn't use/need).
By all means, throw some cardio work in for it's general health benefits, but cutting/ fat loss is controlled by your diet.
