Mike, as much as it might be their own unique blend of whatever supplement it its (be it protein/no/creatine/bcaa), it is as much a marketing scheme with many companies.
They say proprietary and the consumer usually thinks, "oh, well that must be a specially made formula and no one else has it." When in reality, in my estimation, there are two things they are doing...
1) They are calling it proprietary and changing up the ratios/ingredients of the supplement somewhat to distinguish it from another supp company
2) They might be calling it proprietary because the ingredients are crap and they aren't as good as other blends (for example the ratio between whey isolate and concentrate) and they want to hide it.
Some companies actually say proprietary and list after what the doses are, so you understand what it is composed of...however, many don't,
