Currently I'm using the cytosport muscle milk as my source of nightly casein protein. Its OK, taste wise and does keep me full for a long time, so must be doing the job thru the night. Anyway, been buying all my supplements from a website for a while now and I was interested in trying out some syntha 6 from BSN, but they never had any in stock (mainly just kept the cell mass and true mass stuff, along with NO-xplode etc). Well turns out the other day they got them in and they also got them in cheap, about half the price of anywhere else (internet based and shop based).

Question is, because its kinda cheap ATM and it comes in the same quantity as the muscle milk, would it be a good replacement for the casein source. I read on some ingrediants list somewhere that it contains calcium caseinate, and I imagine that is the same thing as casein protein? I just wanted to check with you guys first and also see whether any of you lot use it as your casein nightly protein atm. Anyway, no rush on this as they should have the offer on for a while, but within a week would be good as I might buy a few tubs. Cheers

/Nixy

Well, I have a few people I talk to down the gym. Most of them have been long running body builders. They were fairly convinced that casein protein powder was good before bed and took it themselves. Unlike having a glass of milk before bed, it will make a like slurry or paste in your stomach for a long time and releases the protein slowly thru the night. Ofc if this is bullshit tell me as it'll save me some money :p

Also, milk (if your referring to regular un-skimmed milk) will have alot of fat and sugar in it. Not something everyone wants too take.

Me and Freak allready talked about this but i think if your going for whole food rather then supplements cottage cheese is the superior choice. Milk has a higher carb to protein ratio and may not be desireable before bed for most people.
