Need some help guys. I am being put on a really odd swing shift. I am having to change my work out times, which means the only time I have is from 7:30-9:00 pm for my workouts. I have a question about taking a protein shake post work out around 9:30 pm and going to bed at 10:30 pm. Is this a bad idea having the shake so late? Maybe I should have it pre workout? Meals are as follows:
4:30 30 mins cardio on treadmill
5:00 1 cup oatmeal, 1 apple, animal pack
9:00 can of tuna, and an apple
12:00 6oz turkey breast, 2 cups salad, 1 cup grean beans
4:00 can of tuna and a salad
7:00 turkey sandwhich on wheat, 1 cup salad
7:30-9:00 weight training...what evers on the menu for the day
9:00 protein shake
10:00 sometimes 1/2 cup cottage cheese (lowfat)

My question is will the protein shake cause a insulin spike too late at night...ie causing fat to build in the liver at night?
Only reason I do cardio in the am is because I have a treadmill at home and its easier for me in the am. This shift change is screwing me up bad. Any help is appreciated!!

Drink your protein after your workout regardless of the hour.

I have the same schedule as you do. I mix my shake with milk to get some casein protein in there so my body can absorb the whey quickly and feed on the casein while i'm asleep shortly after my shake. Has worked well for me for the past month.
