the role of blood to digest food?

this question came to be in a conversation than islaner and i were having. she had just ate a small meal and was immediatly about to work out. i told her that i read in arnold's encyclopedia that:

if you workout right away like that, your body will be using your blood to digest your food and you won't get the most out of your workout because you won't have all the blood you need for the muscle.

hope this makes sense.

but she didn't buy that

so i did a search........

and i can't find evidence on this statement anywhere. where did arnold come up with this stuff.

it is true that when i havn't properly digested my food, i have a hard time getting pumped. but it doesn't make sense.

will someone enlighten me?

you feel sluggish if you work out right after you eat because your muscles and digestive system are competing with eachother for energy resources.

well food must be changed into smaller particles of nutrients than they get absorbed into blood and digested

well when it gets absorbed into the blood it is dispursed throughout your whole body, so yes it would get into the muscles also

Ibanez if you eat a meal right before your workout it will not be digested/absorbed for that lifting session.

You will still get optimal blood flow to the muscle. As bodybuilders our small frequent meals keep the digestive system constantly at work and also allows for better absorption.

Spot on bra.

When you swallow foods, you're only beginning the digestion process (amylase breaks down food particles) and then begins certain processes. The explanation for specific foods at specif times (eg: whey protein pwo, proteolysis is quickened). The body requires or wants amino acid, not full proteins, that's why sufficient rest time is necessary.

I have no clue where the blood goes. I mean, blood cells (I think red blood cells? Not sure) carry the amino acids/proteins. So maybe that's why. We all need 2 research this shit haha.

Simply enough, if told to someone, like Freak said, you need adequate time to breakdown the nutrients (carbs especially for ATP production and glycolysis) for energy purposes.

Does anyone know what is the optimal time frame to eat a meal before a workout?
Because I read this ebook from this guy Sean Nalewanyj, and he recommends to eat the preworkout meal 45 minutes before, but I always feel that I didn't digest the food enough when I do what he says.

I wouldn't eat a big meal right before you go to lift. On a bb diet especially you are always digesting food. I'd say 1.5-2hrs is more appropriate.

I get mine in 45min-1hr prior to my workout. After, pwo meal then 45min-1hr another meal.
