An interesting subject which i thought id ask anyone if they have issues surrounding this topic?

bodybuilding- strict eating, denying yourself of loved food, the mental thought process of having to train and stay commited. those voices at the back of your mind constantly telling you to stay on track with your diet, dont eat this dont eat that, if you dont train today your doomed, if you accidently stuff up on your eating and binge your history and your whole bodybuilding routine is suddenly turned upside down and major depression and doubts set in?

sound familiar? i understand for most its not a problem but for me personally i have major problems surrounding foods and whilst lifting weights and eating well to change myself helps to stop binge eating and what not it has contributed to me actually developing issues surrounding food and body image and self worth. i have had problems for many many years and i think its a big problem for people into this lifestyle. obviously its alot worse when your cutting but even still the temptation to splurge out through bulking is still as bad. its horrible, you have to continuously pick yourself back up and try to get back on track but the more you have a binge the harder it is to actually bounce back. im writing this because i was going well then had a relapse, it just brings back massive doubts and motivation sinks to an all new low, it sucks

thanks for listening guys, would be cool to hear your thoughts and if any of you experience similar things.

thanks

Wasn't really a problem for me until after this last cut. You can see my pic in my profile I got pretty lean. (where I wanted to be). Converting from working so hard to get lean to going on a traditional clean bulk has been hard because although I know why and the science behind it I know that I will not continue to look that lean and that I have to gain a little fat on the bulk. It's just a mental switch but it was tough for me. I good though on the full on bulk now. Just plan everything out and commit yourself. Keep track of your bf%, adjust accordingly and have faith. Stay positive bro!

Why deny yourself food that you love? The name of the game is spice when it comes to food. You can enjoy big flavor and good food when you do it right.

There are also cheat days that people employ.

I don't have that. I have a very bad appetite. If you condition yourself to see a binge as a bad thing then it will dissapate.

yeah i understand what your all saying but i was actually trying to explain how an eating disorder is actually more than that. i do plan my meals out, i do monitor my bf% and train hard and am as commited as anyone out there.

i guess what i am trying to say is that some times you just get to a point where food is constantly on your mind and you cant move on untill you have it. im not talking about havin a cheat meal here and there im talking about when you lose control over your eating and when you experience all the feelings associated with an eating disorder and specifically after a binge. feelings such as guilt, no self worth, feeling so bad, out of control, secrecy around food, usualy for periods of a couple of hours etc etc the list goes on.

it doesnt happen to everyone but having cheat meals and getting into a habbit of doing that in my opinion can lead to these problems occuring. you get into the mentality of restricting yourself of loved food during the week and reward yourself on the wekend for a meal etc. thats all good and well but something as small as that can develop into a MAJOR issue and combined with life's troubles who knows what can happen and thats what happend to me. sometimes you ask yourself is it worth busting your ass when you'll just die one day and should you just enjoy yourlife. im sorry to rave on but all i hope for is just some awareness and for some of you to be able to kind of understand what im saying.

it has nothing to do with meal planning staying commited its got to do with mental issues and more underlying problems i believe.

thanks for listening again and i dont want to cause arguments i just think its a forgotton aspect of being an athlete that can arise if unaware.

if you're eating often (every 2-3 hours) i don't see why you would even get hungry enough to binge like that.

if you're really craving something and you're bulking, eat it! everything in MODERATION bro! if you have portion control, you don't have much of a problem.

Me too, though it is a bit more complicated for me. Personally, it takes me about 4 weeks to not crave sugar or bad shit, it's like my body needs time to forget... not my mind but my body.

But then I see pics of the unnatty boys on my walls and i just tell myself that the sweet stuff doesn't taste sweet, you know, fool yourself, it works for me.
