that totally confuses me cause everything I've been reading says 1.3g per body weight or something for protein...
he goes on to say ...that early in his career he believed that a bodybuilder needed to eat as much as 200g of protein a day in order to develop maximum muscle mass. Since then his research has shown him that body builders do need more protein than the average athalete but probably no more than 100g and certanly no more than 150g.This gives enough protein for muscle building, without adding any unessesary calories to the diet....
HMMM.......I figured since he won mr olympia 7 times or whatever and had a monster body that everyone I know is liek DAMN!!! when I show them pumping Iron he would know whats up
But I'm so confused now.....
anyone ever been this confused???

I haven't read his book but you have to remember about top athletes, they are born with elite genetics and are taking some very powerful drugs to compete at that level. They bear no relation to your average joe. They can work harder, recuperate faster and get stronger/bigger, even with a poor diet and a horrible training regime.
As for the protein, scientific evidence shows intakes of 1.4-1.8g/kg of bodyweight are sufficient for muscle growth purposes. 1g/2lbs of bodyweight equates to roughly 1g/kg, not enough for growth and repair. The bodybuilding recommended of 1g/lb of bodyweight (or 1g/lb of Lean Body Mass) is more than enough, higher intakes are not proven to offer any advantages.
1g/2lbs bw protein and 60-100g carbs a day is extremely low though....are you sure you are reading his book correctly?
A bodybuilder of 200lbs@10%bf would need roughly 3300kcal a day to maintain. With Arnold's breakdown, that would be 100g protein (400kcal), 100g carbs (400kcal) and 278g of FAT!!!!(2500kcal)
