Hi, new member here. I recently acquired a job in Alaska during salmon season and have accepted the job. Normally this would mean nothing to you, the reader, however I am asking for your help. While working I will be working sixteen hours/day, six or seven days a week. This doesn't leave a whole lot of time for lifting or running. That is where I need help. I'm nineteen, 5' 8", and about 190 lbs and in decent shape (I could lose a couple pounds just like the next guy). I am unsure of how to lose those extra ten pounds i'm carrying, while maintaining the muscle I have. I figure dropping in weight won't be a problem with the amount of calories I should be burning while i'm working that much, but I'm afraid of losing all my hard earned muscle. Any suggestions on a diet. I will be living on cafeteria food so keep that in mind. I don't know where to begin...i feel like it's a tough question. Have at it gents (and ladies, sorry)

Personally (and salmon is my favorite sushi) I would set a fish aside every couple of hours, filet it real quick and eat it raw. But thats just me.

I worked on a crabbing boat when I was 15 and 16. I remember I would pack a huge cooler every morning (we fished for blue crabs in the chesapeak) full of sandwiches, jerkey, fruit, and water to get me through the day.

Those things are not options. I get three meals a day. I could try and snag some fruit for a snack but I have no source of food other than the cafeteria. The putting aside the salmon isn't a bad idea, I just don't know if I'm quite hardened enough to eat raw salmon. Again, thats just me. Also, working sixteen hours a day, cardio is really not much of an option. maybe twenty minutes to half hour. I feel like I'm going to need my sleep working for that long...just being realistic

You wont need to do any cardio, you'll be doing plenty working as a fisherman.

And if all you have to go on is 3 meals of cafeteria food a day, then you better eat a lot at those 3 meals.

Seems like you DONT have any options but to make do with what you have and start fresh at the end of the season.
