I understand where you're coming from and it was good advice, mostly because of the fact that you're motivating him to up his meal consistency. But think of it from a rookie trainee/dieter. Most are used to eat 3 larger meals, and that's it. So in most cases, absorption of food and digestion isn't as quick, thus why eating 6 meals in the beginning is a catastrophe.

Mixed studies about this. Some, like Freak, believe it does. Studies in the past show that the effect of the pattern of food intake on human energy metabolism is not differentiated when consistency is increased. However, recent studies contradict this. Nonetheless, absorption time is increased when meal patterns are more frequent.
Either way, continue your 5-8 meals a day.

if drinking all this water is making you loose your appetite, then cut back on the water.
honestly, IMO, you don't need to be drinking 2 gallons a day. i know this goes contrary to what most people are going to tell you and i'm probably going to get flamed for this, but in my honest opinion, it's overrated and unessesary.
I'd say, just drink water throughout the day and stay very well hydrated. still drink as much as you can but don't over do it if 2 gallons seems like too much.
sorry guys, just stating my opinion here. |
Great advice! I agree. Drink to stay hydrated. Also excessive amounts of water raises blood pressure.
