If I do not have access to any fast digesting carbs after my workout is taking some sugar with my whey a bad idea?

First, pure sugars, like Equal or any other sugar/sweetener is largely made up of aspartame, then maltodextrin and dextrose. However, the amount of maltodextrin and dextrose is minimal for any carb counts to form.

Second, table sugar is composed of sucrose. Another reason why this option is ineffective. Sucrose is 1 glucose molecule and 1 fructose molecule; fructose restores liver glycogen, not muscle (transported through facilitated diffusion).

Or...are you using another sweetener? You have NOTHING that will suit what's needed pwo?

I just gave you that answer on my first post. You will have an insulin response, but it won't be sudden (digested quick enough) nor efficient for post workout.

I've been using 2 scoops of choclate mix and a scoop of table sugar in my protein drink thinking it would be a good post workout carb. i guess i was wrong on that one. haha.

I go to the gym at 545am and im back at the house around 715ish. what would be a good simple carb for me to consume beside white rice and bake potatoe. that early in the morning it is hard to consume that kind of food.

it depends how much sugar is in the jelly, you can buy a maltodextrin at a GNC for cheap or ive seen it at WalMart.

Dextrose.

Maltodextrin is a complex carb with a longer molecular chain of glucose, so it must pass through liver to breakdown the glycotic bonds. Dextrose is instantly absorbed through the gut.
