**Note: For my numbers I used "A Unique Combination of Science and Experienced Pre-contest advice by Layne Norton" at the top of the page with the stats in my signature for my protein, carbohydrate, and fat intake**

Well I did my first week of my "cutting phase" and I don't see whats so "cutting" about it. I have never watched how much I eat and monitor my calories but already it feels like I was eating less before this. Here are my numbers:
  • Calorie Intake = 2640 kCal
  • Protein Intake = 360 grams (1.5 g/lb x 240) | 1440 kCal's
  • Fat Intake = 76 grams (Used 25.5% of my daily calories) | 676 kCal's
  • Carbohydrate Intake = 131.25 grams (rest of my daily calories)| 524.5 kCal's

I want to make sure my cutting phase is as successful as possible this summer (no I am not cutting for the girls I am doing this for myself, I would like to compete some day...) and if anyone could confirm or help me re-calculate my numbers it would be superb.

Last week I was monitoring what I ate per day, and with having to eat 360 grams of protein per day and little to no carbs (depending on the meal) and little fat... a few of my meals were just ground beef and a cup of milk, haha I just dont see whats so cutting about this phase.

Thanks in advance.

Seems ok to me bud.

The cutting refers to eating less than you are expending, therefore creating a calorie deficit which, if not too harsh, should incur fat loss. There is also some science behind carbohydrate cycling and protein but everything is explained in Layne's article.

There are many cutting diets out there. As long as there is a true, small calorie deficit, you will keep losing fat. Keep a log of weight/LBM/bf% and see how it goes.

Just remember to do the re-feeds as you do have a way to go at 22%bf and you wouldn't want your body to adapt completely to low carbs.

Best of luck mate!

I will make that revision. As far as the lack of carbs goes, in that link I mentioned at the top of my post (its at the top of this section in the forums also), it mentions that endomorphs should lower their carbohydrate intake as they may experience harder difficulties trying to lose weight if they eat a decent amount.

Suppose if I do up my carbohydrate intake, what would I decrease then in order to be hitting around 2,600 kCal's per day? Or would I just up that as well?

Thanks!

well i would still think to have your carbs, in the 1-2g per lb, and when you up your carbs i would try stay around that area in calories as 2600 is already pretty high for a cut
