hey guys just wondering seeing im new,
protien shakes how long before a work out should i have one,
and should i take one after a work out.

I do a 2:1, whey:casein protein mix POST workout. Preworkout I use nothing but whey.

Anyone else do that?

Casien slows down the absorbtion of the whey protein. Being as your optimal anabloic window is 30 mins after a workout i don't and wouldnt suggest taking casien post w/o

Post workout out shake, can that be after cardio also? What I'm saying is, that I usually do my weights and then do anywhere from 30 to 40 min. of cardio afterwards. Am I still in the "Window" after cardio or does it start after?

diff people say that u can essentially do both.

If your doing 30 to 40 minutes I'd def do one before cardio with maltodextrin or dextrose in it and about 50g of protein, then wait a few minutes and do your LI cardio

immediately after work out bcuz ur body acts like a sponge. that is Whey protein not Casein.

Casein only at night b4 bed cuz it absorbs slowly.

before workout you can take it like 45 min before. but i just eat a whole meal 1.5 hours before my workouts instead of taking a protein shake

Personally, i would switch the times. Pre-workout, it can be optimal to couple whey with casein protein so you have a slow-release of protein that can help you remain anabolic or at least anti-catabolic during training. Post workout, its beneficial to use whey protein as it was intended. By itself with a preferably fast-digest carb source that causes an insulin response with muscle glycogen replenishment as your main goal as well.

what do u mean as it was intended? Whey was essentially taken out and isolated to give people that extra kind of protein that it was harder for them to get back in the day.

Keep the whey before and after since u should be weight training only about 1hr tops, and then take a shake and do ur cardio and have food after that.
