I've been adding almond butter to my protein shakes to add calories. Just wondering if anybody else does this and how well it's worked for you??

I go through a jar of almond butter every week or two. I love the stuff. Regular peanut butter is full of crap you don't need, just get the organic almond butter and its great, and good for you.

I sometimes make shakes with it, taste delicious. Try olive oil in your shakes too, I think it brings up the consistancy of the shake... Just makes it smoother.

olive oil? I think that'd make it worse IMO. Just me though. I put honey in my shakes. It's really really good.

Well, EVOO is an acquired taste in a shake. Sometimes I just take 2 oz shots of evoo in the morning. Keeps your digestion system working well.

It also stabilizes your blood sugar and gives you a full feeling.

Also, most people i know get flax seed in seed form. Not the oil. Then they mix the flax seed into various things. One guy i know mixes blueberry flavored flax seed mix into his oats... sounds delicious.

Im about to go to the store and look into almond butter soon.

Make sure the flax seeds are milled or ground. If they are not, they will pass right through you.

Almond's an amazing nut. High in monounsaturated fat.

Peanut butter on the other hand contains a chemical (the name of which I cannot recall off the top of my head) that reduces thyroid output. To what extent it does that, I am not sure.

The raw statistics arent very different from what i saw. Im thinking it might taste a bit better, or just a change. I will pick it up when my PB runs out.

Find out about that chemical. Im interested in seeing what i can find about it.

The new thing they have out is Virgin Coconut Oil. Supposedly it has something in it that helps balance your thyroid and therefore balance weight. Alot of people now a days are really neglecting healthy fats and nuts, and thats why people get fat. You must eat fat (good fats) to stay healthy...

The problem is the general population takes fat out of a diet completely to try to loose weight...

I really think I'm going to go pick up some of this Virgin Coconut Oil, I really want to see what it taste like.

I dont think its as simply as that at all. I think alot of people are neglecting carbs more then anything, or dont understand the effects of proper nutrition. The people who are fat are typically eating everything in sight, so i doubt them AVOIDING fat is what has caused them to be fat.

I totally agree with your statement. I was just making a little point, and yes carbs are a HUGE factor in why people are so unhealthy. I should have explained myself a little more.

Great Point!
