Yeah, I've been to protein factory website. I wonder how they offer those instant custom blends. This has me really worried about the company. First of all, I can't find any "about" link on their website that explains in detail about their company, their manufacturing and so on.
If you know anything about the supplement business it is really hard to make a custom blended product for every customer on the spot. I mean come on, think of the logistics in that. The guy has to have a pretty sophisticated operation that can take your order from the website (or some person inputs it into a their machine) and a bottle has either go down a belt with huge containers of each type of protein and as the bottle goes by this machine knows exactly what percentage of each ingredient and then move on to the next one and adds the next percentage. This all has to be done in a sterile environment using GMP standards. If you think about it, it is almost sort of an impossible task. I mean you've seen those shows on TV like the one called "how it is made" I think it's on discovery channel or something. anyway, it shows how products of this sort are made. I mean those machines are pretty darn sophisticated, robotic and exactly controlled.
Then think of this.. once that bottle comes off the end of the line, how do they know which bottle was for which customer? Unless the machine counts the number of bottles in the line and knows the customer information and slaps on a label on it.. Again an almost impossible task. Is this stuff coming in a bottle or just some big 'ol bag or what?
I'm not saying with lots of money this type of company couldn't be created, and the machines built, but don't you think as a business owner you would be pretty darn proud of it and have a section on the website explaining in great detail the unique manufacturing process, and the machines and such? Nowhere do I see this on their site. Just some creepy, computerized lady that tries to "help" you make your protein mix.
The other side of this of course is if this dude (the owner) is hiring manual labor to manually scoop out a percentage of each ingredient or something similar and dump it into a bag or a bottle.
"Hey Jose! We got ourself another order. Each handful is 10% Understand? What? we ran out of pure 'isolate'? Well, just throw in some 'concentrate' instead, the dude won't know the difference, besides it's cheaper for us anyway!"
That might be an exaggeration to make my point, but also what about sanitation? who is inspecting this? how do we know for sure we are getting exactly what we pay for? I mean who would know? This might be why people on other websites have said the taste consistency from batch to batch is different.
Unless the owner can be more upfront on his website and give us all some insight into the manufacturing process with pictures. Maybe contact a bodybuilding magazine and have them do an article on this company and take us all through a photo tour of his operation. Or just do it himself and post it on his website under the "about" section.
It is very tempting to buy stuff from this company because the prices are pretty good, but something about that company just doesn't seem quite right. It seems a bit shady to me and a bit unrealistic. |
