Just went to doc's and got my blood work back. Apparently I have very high cholesterol. Total 243 (Normal is less than 200)
HDL "Good Cholesterol" is 38 (Normal is greater than 45)
LDL "Bad Cholesterol" is 183 (Normal is less than 130)

I mean ive been eating well and losing the belly fat from bulking. Could the cholesterol possibly come from the supplements? Nitric Oxide, Protein shakes, Fish Oil. BCAA's

Ive heard that bodybuilders can accumulate high cholesterol, but how does it happen?

Fish oils lower ldl and raise hdl.

Do you smoke? Smoking has a horrible impact upon cholesterol.

Are you performing cardio? Generally cardiovascular training (be it aerobic or anaerobic) will have dramatic positive effects on cholesterol.

What do you eat in a given day? What types of fats?
In this case, you need to steer away from anything polyunsaturated or saturated (with the exception of fish oil) and consume more monounsaturated fats.

The cheat meals won't affect it that much, but it could have a slight effect.

Just up the cardio and lower the amount of cheat meals and u should be fine man.

good luck

75% is hereditary. No it isn't from the supplements. Alcohol can also increase it.

I know this is a very limited solution, but it's worth asking. Are you eating a lot of full eggs? Egg yolks are extremely high in cholesterol and since eggs are huge part of any bodybuilders diet it was worth asking. If you are, limit yourself to only a few whole eggs and throw in more egg whites, which are much better for you.

210mg of cholesterol per egg. Fix your diet, do cardio, and monitor it. That's all you can do

Absolutely not. There is not "good cholesterol" per se -You are probably thinking of HDL - high density lipoprotein (good cholesterol is a misnomer). HDL takes excess cholesterol in the blood back to the liver to be excreted.

Limit daily cholesterol to 300mg.
